PAL "in progress"

You havent been denied VIZSLA. What "initial processing" is is the federal backgroudn checks etc.. are completed. You license is now en route to the CFO of your province. Cal them and ask them if its there. I did. They said "oh yeah, it right here in the pile. Ill get on that for you". And they did. Apparently my license was sitting in that pile for about two months. I had a friend who said "Im not worried". Two months after I got mine, (and we did the course same time w each other as references) he called and they pulled it out of the same pile. Pretty much, if you live in Ontario, a call to get them kickstarted is absolutely necessary IMHO.

Woot, my app is finally showing on their website! It was delivered to local police station on april 20th btw (sunday)

My PAL was issued on the 28th day. It took over 2 weeks just for their site to be updated to show that they even received it in the mail. So I called them on the 27th day just to make sure things were good. They said everything was good and just to wait. The next day the website shows it was issued!!! No call to refs or anything! WooHoo!!!! So needless to say I'm going to be checking the mail every day for the next week or two...

Let's go shopping!!!!

One of my references was called on Thursday of last week and I also talked to them, the lady asked me a bunch of questions about me and my references and then told me that she was sending it back to the province for final approval which could take another 45 days, but she didn't say for my second reference to phone in.
I assume that if she is sending it for final approval that she doesn't need to talk to my second reference??

in the call interviews, both to the person applying and the persons of reference, what questions are asked?

I am in BC and i submitted for my PAL and RPAL in March, their system shows it received on 03/17. I called them on May 3rd and they said the application had been forwarded to the provincial firearms officer for final approval. Coming up on two months now, i'm not in any particular hurry, i just thought it would be faster, my buddies PAL/RPAL came through pronto. Oh well... anyone here know what the usual delay is with the BC provincial firearms officer processing these things is right now?

Thanks guys...

my status was just updated, its now in progress :D

Once its in process expect it to come soon! Call every week to make sure there is not a problem, sometimes there could be a complication and they could take up to a month to contact you. Only takes 5min for you, a month for them.. just trying to save you a little bit of time :p

Last enquiry a week ago by a friend was told the CFO has a 28-40 day wait in BC at the moment....

I was called on earlier this week (may 13th) and so were both my reference (My application was received by them on april 23rd).

They asked me basically the same questions I answered on the application form (If i had committed violent crime, if i was depressive, etc...).

They asked my buddy if I had bad temper, if I was a violent person, if they would turn me in if they suspected me to behave badly with firearms.

One of my ref called back yesterday (he better did ;P) because he wasn't home when they called. I don't know from this point what's supposed to happen and/or how much time it's going to take...
