I believe you can call the CFC and they will either a. tell you outright or b. give you a phone # or extension to call.

You should be watching the sponsor links (Moving Target and Wolverine) for updates instead. Being retailers they will report a change in status faster so as to get product to their customers and bust out the hype. It's in their best and vested interest to inform us faster than the CFC or RCMP. (informing=profit) So far neither retailer has changed their postings on their websites since February 25th-ish. Prices are still TBA (although we already know they are going for $650.00 US$ in the U.S.) and delivery date is unknown. I know it's an old joke and I said it about 100 posts back but they didn't say "what summer" or "what June" they'd be coming in. :)

Again with the T97 debacle fresh in our minds a lot of people got phone calls saying their credit cards were processed and their T97 was en-route only to be told again shortly after the powers that be changed their minds. I would presume this has made a lot of retailers skiddish in reporting "anything" until the M4's are FRT'ed, classified, and priced.

I've read posts where they were around $550.00 U.S.

Nope, restricted -> AR variant, just like the M-4

It has been said before, AR variants are restricted by name, regardless of calibre. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck.............=> restricted duck

They are probably trying to find a "loophole" right now to have it classed as non-restricted, not likely to happen considering the Armi Yager is already restricted.
 
Alright guys, listen up: this is about the most up to date and official news you're going to receive on the subject of the Umarex M4 until a distributor/importer takes the next steps.

According to the RCMP technician I spoke to, the Colt Umarex M4 is currently classified as Restricted based on the available literature they were able to peruse (it's perceived as a variant - perhaps because of the terminology used in the Colt/Walther description); that said, the classification is subject to change following a personal evaluation of the rifle by the RCMP.

Here's the tricky part: an importer has to bring in a sample rifle for verification or this won't be going anywhere. It can be done without registration or any serious paperwork since it would be considered a demonstration/evaluation model. In other words, it appears that the ball is in an importer/distributor's court for this to move forward.

They did the same with the GSG-5.

I don't understand why they feel it necessary to classify a firearm before actually evaluating one, since everything has to go through their section before any kind of registration information is approved.

The importer has a gun in their possession and is waiting for the RCMP to come by and examine the firearm, we should have a very clear answer shortly on this subject, furthermore a 1000 of these toys are awaiting shipment from Europe pending the RCMP decision, all I can say is stay tuned and watch how this all unravels.

Excellent. I just hope they get this done before the summer is over... would be a shame to get this (restricted or non-restricted alike) around late fall/winter time.
 
Would you want to be the Bummer In The Room and tell everyone first that the gun everyone has been waiting 16+ weeks for to be non-restricted will not come in that way?
 
In my opinion it is worthless if restricted unless it will retail for under $500.00. I know, I know, wishful thinking.

Hehehe, for a bit less than 500 I will sell you my restricted "AR" variant AP74......:dancingbanana:

It is hard to believe that the peopel in charge of this classification are so lazy that they look at the hype and advertising rather than the product. Shameful to the core.
