PAL "in progress"

Finally! My piece of plastic arrived in the MAIL! Application received on May 14th. Plastic received in the mail on June 22.

After all the paper work, interview, reference checks... and the future red tape I will have to go through with ATT, rules, regulations, and what not... my plastic doesn't include my signature!? I would assume it would be there. Go figure.

I just secured a deal from EE for a nice refurb laminated Russian SKS with gold plated bayonet. :)

I'll be heading to Epps to look at the Norinco M4 this weekend. I'll probably get one. Not sure how CFO would react as a first restricted firearm. I hope others have done same thing as me. LOL!

Pal & rpal

I just checked the website to confirm my application has been received, says it was received May 28th so I guess the long wait is on now, sure hope I receive it soon as I wanna go and buy some new toys to get ready for this years hunting season.
Will keep my fingers crossed.

Update I received a letter from them yesterday I forgot to sign my photo, I called the number on the letter and got straight through, they did my interview and told me to have my referrances call in right away to complete there piece now everything is complete so likley wont be much longer now.

Oh and by the way they were very pleasant and helpful

I'm a happy man!

I just logged-in and saw this:
Application Received on: 2009/05/25

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

Does this mean I can get the license number over the phone and use that to buy guns already? If so, how do I do that? Who do I call? And what info do I need exactly?

They received mine on 5/25 too! I got the call yesterday from the RCMP to do my reference check, and also they did my dads. Just my brother to go who will call in today. I am doing PAL and RPAL.

I can't wait to go shopping :) Very soon I will have the same question as you so I am curious to see what the response is. I believe the answer is yes to your question, but the RCMP agent on the phone mentioned the BC CFO office for review.

lol i'm pretty sure mine was received on 5/25 as well and I just got a call on day 29. It was privated so I almost didn't answer but then I remembered it could be them. I did my interview and then mentioned one of my references as with me (I work with them) so they interviewed him and then I gave them a direct number to my second reference. Hopefully she answers.

sounds like they're on top of it!

Good stuff!

If it went as smoothly as me, your status should change in about a week.

A week? That long eh? So I'm easily 3 weeks from getting my card?

If all your references and yourself been called... some here got updated right away.. Not me.. I waited a week... and 7 business days to get my plastic!

All this waiting makes us noobs just keep checking and checking. I can't believe I still remember all this info I'm telling you right now...

confirmed

I called the CFO, got my license number and was able to use it already for a purchase in a store highly regarded on this forum by a salesman also highly regarded. Boy am I happy. I can't wait to go out and shoot it.

My brother just called in ... now I am all done everything. Hopefully in a week or so I can be done with this and move onto getting my guns back from my family (my childhood ones), and buying new guns to support our forum sponsors :)

So once the site says approved, I can go ahead and call in for my number?

I have a semi-related question. If I lost my wallet, no big deal, I can replace all my cars fairly easily but what about the PAL license? Is it hard to get another one issued, especially since we're the ones that provide the photos.

HEY HEY, what do yah know, I checked the site for s**ts and giggles again since they talked to everyone today and look what I have found:

Can I call now and get my number? Who number do I call if I'm in BC... or is it just the one that is in bracket below in this post? What time do they close (lol).

edit: I just called the 1-800-731-4000 number and was told I cannot get my licence number before my card arrived. WTF? She said they cannot give it over the phone, which makes sense, but how did others get theirs? Is there another number I can try?

Good stuff my man. If only they did that to me. I probably have my licence last weekend and would be able to see/buy a Norinco M4 at Epps. Right now, I don't know. It's all sold on their website. Maybe I can still see. But I want other goodies too.

Yeah, if you want it bad, keep trying. Someone on the other end may cave and give it to you. Like everything else. Ask a different person, get a different answer.

Yes! Now I wait for the card and maybe try my luck at the # and see if I can get it over the phone.

Does the BC CFO office have it? I think I read that earlier in the thread.

I am buying a gun from the EE so this is good news!

Not sure if it matter, but are you in Ontario?

They received your app 9 days after me. So no any time now if everything goes smoothly.

Looks like most people here are getting approved in a timely manner. Well, timely is subjective... within 45-50 days.

Now it's up to Canada Post. So far, they haven't epically failed me yet. Better not be with firearms, especially receiving them in the mail!

Hopefully I'm pretty close as well, mine got in the system on 1st June, I'm in Ontario though.
