Years ago I shot a lot of 38-40 WCF through a Stevens .410 without a hitch.
Certainly not with benchrest accuracy though !!
That sounds like a good combination. I dropped a 44-40 in a 410 chamber and it dropped in perfectly. I can't imagine the accidents waiting to happen, with all this talk of shooting 44 and 45 calibre ammo in a 410. As I said, I measured the muzzle of a choked 410 and it was .395.
Then we come to what people are talking about of a 45 Colt/410 gun. The only thing I can figure is that the bores of these special guns must be 453, or something like that, to accomidate a 45 Colt.
With all the talk on this thread, and still some confusion, I think it should be spelled right out.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SHOOT 44 OR 45 CALIBRE PISTOL AMMUNITION IN A STANDARD 410 SHOTGUN.
