2/3 size IPSC Target

Actually that is not entirely true Sean.

At our club we host a mid winter Level II match with between 6 and 8 stages with a round count of over 100 using just our indoor range.

It just takes some imagination and tricks to be acomplished but it can be done.

I would also point out that in this match a target is not used for more than one stage.

Edit........just checked our last one (2007) was 7 stages and 98 rounds.
John, for over 15 years, we've run a 250 round match with 14-16 stages every February (The spring bang) at our indoor facility too. (Sometimes we bother with L3 approval, sometimes we don't.) The Stages are very imaginative and bring a huge crowd from Atlantic Canada in. I can tell you for a fact that next year, that - due to the new target - they're going to be even more imaginitive - at the very least - there will be more shooting positions & more shooting on the move - it will be more like the freedom of shooting outdoors.

I fail to see the problem for an MD to have another trick in the bag to use - but I guess it comes down to - if you don't like it - don't use it.

Guys it is a game of skill and Fun. Small targets me more challenge and complexity in a smaller area.
Ask yourself the question if our targets where banned and we had to use frangible (clay pigeons, water bottles, pop cans) or bulls eye targets would you still play?

I would have to say yes,...because we all would be using the same target.:kickInTheNuts:

:agree:
It is always a great match, worth the hotel and drive,..great value for the money. If you are lucky (and the NS guys make every effort) , you can shoot sat afternoon on a squad, shoot two floors,...then shoot sunday morning two floors- which allows you to go home early if you choose to....

I don't see what the big deal is over the use of smaller targets,...I do think they should be able to used in the same stage, but I don't make these decisions. I actually print off smaller targets to use indoors on my wall if I manage to get some dryfire practice in.:)

Oh I like it.

BUT!

I want the FREEDOM to use it as I see fit to replicate longer distance in our 25 m range.

But that is only a small part. I absolutley positively HATE bucking under PC pressure. That goes double when it comes from inside what is supposed to be our ranks.

(Btw... I would love to see your layout for your indoor match some day).

somewhere I have pictures and video of the Zombie match,..it was frigging funny,..cool stages,...almost all involved Zombies, or chainsaws, or axes....LOL:evil:

Sean,
thanks for answering.
My problem is this: some Regions will use 2/3 targets, some will not.
At a big matches hosted by nation which use 2/3 targets a lot, they may game it and
have 50% stages with smaller targets, just to accommodate their shooters.
I know, it is all about calling shoots, but also about getting used to new size.

I used practice shooting steel with round paper circle. Some say this is good enough, but it wasn't till I started using real steel, then my steel stages improve.

John you seem to mixing things up here a bit. the only thing the French gig did was to cause us to make a rule that you cannot mix the two type of targets in one stage. if you really stretch it guess you could call it PC but to me it is no way near as big of a deal as dropping the metric targets. Personally i don't see anything PC about it.

I can see using it a lot in indoor matches, however i doubt if i would use it much in an outdoor match except for maybe a plate rack at 10 meters and 2/3 paper besides it or maybe another 10 meters out.

Now you want to get my dander up lets talk about the 15 round limit for production and i don't even shot it, LOL.

All I know is I'm looking forward to shooting IPSC targets in Nov. I'm glad the US never caved on dropping the old target, hope they never do.

I can. I practice indoors on small targets all the time and it definitely helps my ability to shoot long range targets.

Well, IPSC distances are one thing... Sure maybe a little target at the same distance "looks" like it's further(farther?) way, but it's not.

In PPC we'll use a smaller target at 25yrds to "similate" 50yrds.
Throwing a bullet 50yards witha handgun is not the same at throwing it at 25yrds... trajectory, wind etc do factor in.
Of course yes... I don't see too many 50yrd shots at ipsc matches.

Yeah, I mean it would make more sense to roll Production into Standard since everyone wants to start modding them...:D

I see where you're coming from but we don't shoot powderpuff loads as is the norm in competitive PPC.

You weren't at our nationals. ;)

Please say it is not so :(
What is up with deletion of Revolver division?
A lot of people want Single Stack Division. Modified and Revolver are not getting reasonable turnout world wide - compared with other divisions, despite years of existence. IPSC's not going to add yet another division, so the discussion is that they trim the fat and try something else. It's just discussion now. If you're concerned, go to the global village and give them your opinion.

if anything had to go, I would assume modified. Revolvers are still being used in matches, I have yet to see a modified gun at a match.

Will do, but can you please point me to a discussion about Revolver division up there?
