John, for over 15 years, we've run a 250 round match with 14-16 stages every February (The spring bang) at our indoor facility too. (Sometimes we bother with L3 approval, sometimes we don't.) The Stages are very imaginative and bring a huge crowd from Atlantic Canada in. I can tell you for a fact that next year, that - due to the new target - they're going to be even more imaginitive - at the very least - there will be more shooting positions & more shooting on the move - it will be more like the freedom of shooting outdoors.Actually that is not entirely true Sean.
At our club we host a mid winter Level II match with between 6 and 8 stages with a round count of over 100 using just our indoor range.
It just takes some imagination and tricks to be acomplished but it can be done.
I would also point out that in this match a target is not used for more than one stage.
Edit........just checked our last one (2007) was 7 stages and 98 rounds.
I fail to see the problem for an MD to have another trick in the bag to use - but I guess it comes down to - if you don't like it - don't use it.
