IPSC Ont Board Elections

Don't you mean.. which one of the board members will quit if "###X" gets voted on..

Well, I don't know any of the present board members at all and would only recognize maybe one of them. Same with the new candidates that are up for election. Based on their bios, and what I have picked up here and there, they all would seem to make fine board members.
I think they are all grown up, and wouldn't expect anyone to quit based on personal conflicts.
I haven't decided either way who to vote for,, and will probably decide at the last minute.

Leave alone the board. I've heard people saying that they will quit the sport if ### gets on the board...

I agree with Phil that it is important that board will be able to work together and yet there should be someone that throw it out of the balance a little, so we'll actually see some changes.

Leave alone the board.

and what exactly am I "doing to the board"??? I'm just repeating a comment that was said by a board member.. if he was not willing to stand behind that comment, then maybe he shouldn't have said it..

should we not hold our board members accountable to what they say in public?

Take it easy, I only meant that some individual getting to the board will stir not just the board but also lot of other people. So, vote carefully. :)

Group dynamics are very fluid...there is no "recipe" and you can't predict them.

Sometimes it's good to have a s**t disturber on the board...keeps everyone on their toes. Sometimes...not so much.

The biggest single issue, IMHO, is someone in a Board poition that has a pocket full of personal agendas. For the most part we have been very fortunate not to have that problem...and I have no reason to belive that will change (in the next 30 days)

Strategic voting is a wasted vote...vote for who you think has the ideas that best suit where you want to see IPSC Ontario go...

Are you repeating a comment you heard was made by a board member or are you repeating a comment you overheard a board member make ?????

I you did not hear the board member make the comment then you are repeating hearsay and just rumor mongering.

If you did in fact hear the board member make the comment then it should be in quotation marks and attributed to the board member made it.

If it is not hearsay and you do not wish to attribute the remark, then you should keep it to yourself.

We are all held accountable for what we say and comments we make.

YEAH! If there is information known about a candidate or board member we should know it. If there is nothing to be known half truths and innuendo wont help anybody.

Inquiring minds want to know: Is there an issue with a candidate???

If you guys have any questions or concerns about a candidate...why not forgo all the GunNut rumour churn and drop them an email.

I'm pretty sure they all provided contact info in their bios...

I don't think it advisable to be basing decisions on "he said/she said" third-hand hearsay. You will always have the teller of the story injecting their own personal view of what was said, and how it was said and this will always contaminate the broth. I prefer to go on what I know to be factual, so an actual human conversation with each of the candidates would be in order if I need anything clarified.

As well, if we are all to be held accountable for the things we say it would be a harsh world indeed. We all say things we don't mean, or at least don't intend to say, and regret it later and USUALLY it's no harm-no foul. It's what we DO that is important, and each of the candidates in the running has a pretty clear history of behavior to draw one's conclusions from.

For what it's worth; I think each of the candidates is adult enough and professional enough to be able to work with any of the others, and/or any of the existing members. In spite of what someone may have heard someone say (or not), when the rubber meets the road everyone will step up and work to do what's needed for the betterment of the sport.

I have a Open question.

What does the IPSC ONT board really do? How am I the lowly shooter going to feel an impact for what they do?

The rules are set my IPSC World right?, I know they sanction the matches and keep records and post scores etc. but.... Looking to have this filled in a little.
