Someone Talk Me Out Of Buying A Benelli M4

I googled Louis Awerbuck and all i got was training courses and one pic of a modded 870. Which looks like mine... only his is OD and mine is bling bling silver. LOL I'll take some pics of the m4 either tonight or tomorrow.

How many notches are on it? You should be able to see a few little "cuts" on the very front of the the choke, to indicate what it is.

Mine has 3 cuts (|||) which is indicated in the manual as modified choke.

I have shot slugs (2-34/ and 3" magnum), buckshot and low brass target loads through it, no problem.

It is safe to shoot slugs through the modified choke, in fact I have heard that Modified choke gives the best slug accuracy. I always shoot rifled slugs, which are designed to be safely fired through ANY choke (the rifling bumps squish out as it moves through the choke, so it wont cause overpressure)

I MAINLY shoot the low brass target loads for range time, since they are cheap!
OK I looked and its a 3 so #8 steel shot is OK? I'll save the slugs for my 870. :D

Give me your SPAS 12 :D

No way sir.... you cant have them in canada... and I've always wanted one so when someone traded it in I bought it on the spot. LOL. I did find another one at a gun shop in a near by city with the folding stock and I tired to buy it as well but the owner of the shop said it was his and he wasn't selling it.

OK so now that I have the benelli can you guys recommend me a red dot for it? Please include a make and model number so I can look the specs please. :D

Aimpoint Micro T-1 or H-1.

I have an H-1 on my Benelli M4. I don't have any NVG at home, so no need for me to shell out the extra cash for the T-1.

I have a T1 on my M4, although it will be going onto my USC/UMP conversion when its done. If I had the money I would get another so I could have 2 (one for each!) :p

I would suggest getting a stronger mount though, if you go with the T1/H1, since the stock mount isn't up to taking 3" magnums (or at least, taking a lot of them. Mine survived a few with no problems and no damage)

Dont do the LaRue either (not trying to knock them), but they self destruct with the recoil lug (it doesn't span across the recoil slots enough since the M4 has the cut through them) and will grind the recoil lug apart.

I would go with an American Defense MFG low profile QR mount. It has a full width STEEL recoil cross slot, and the full length clamp. They are VERY solid and I like the one I have a lot! 80 bucks I think from Brownells.

Conversely, if you don't care about Quick release, the Docter Optics fit very nice on them as well. It was the first reflex I put on it, and its rock solid, and you almost don't even notice the shroud. They are not as beefy as the Aimpoint Micro's though.

Hey Lee hows it going? Thanks for the input I'll look at that sight.

Pit why would i want a 14inch when I can have a 6? LOL But ya I can get a 14incher if I want too. I'd have to register it like my super shorty.

How about eotechs? They seem to have some good pricing as compared to the aimpoints?

For those asking for pictures.... her she is with her new family! :)

Hey buddy!
Things are ok.
Still stuck in Ottawa, just doing my thing. I still have my RC51, but haven't ridden since '05. Maybe this coming summer....

I'll try and get a pic of mine with the H-1 mounted, and VCAS sling.
As far as mounting the Micros on the M4, the stock Aimpoint mount is more than up to the task of the M4, as well as the LRP throw lever(I have it on mine).
At least, that's what Freddie Blish from Aimpoint told me. :)

I still have my gixxer, but I'll bet I put less than 500 miles on it since moving back to the states in 06. I bought a chopper this summer and I rode that around town a lot. Here there are no fun rodes to really ride on, and the chop is just fun to ride around town.

The EOTech's sit VERY high up on the M4, and there is no comfortable cheek wield at all. The Micro sits just a teeny bit higher than than factory iron sights, and gives a very good sight picture.

I have the LRP throw lever for my stock mount also. I had heard some conflicting reports from guys talking to Aimpoint, so I wasn't sure. Mine never gave me any problems, but again, moot point since its moving to a different gun soon anyways :D

Noted.... I'll keep researching but the aimpoint will be at the top of my list. Also im not concerned with quick release because I'll probably never take it off after I get it installed.

Then I wouldn't worry too much about it. I do suggest the LRP kit tho (50 bucks from brownells) since the stock bolt threads into the aluminum clamp, and is a bit too easy to strip, whereas the LRP kit is threaded into a steel bolt, and uses a steel cross bolt, so you can clamp it down nice and tight.

If you use loctite though, it probably wont be any issue.

Heres some 14 inch #### for ya:)

I really like the solid mag tube extension on this shotgun compared to the longer bbl. Benellis. Not a fan of the "shark fin" front sight either. If it had a normal ramp with dovetail, I'd be all over it. Alas...:(
