...Dream range!
Curious myself about the "long range" near Tammworth. I live 20 minutes away...(not bragging!) and, it could be a lot of fun! Not tried a whole lot past 300m....
This is a question for long range shooters who reside in Ontario.
Any one knows of Crown land where I can shoot out to 2000 meters? I only know of three military ranges where I can shoot to 1000 meters after becoming a member of Ontario Rifle Association. I live near Toronto and am looking for some place to try shooting past 1000 meters
Well that one went right over your head. Smilies should have given you a clue. Regardless no offence intended.
Your nav charts should be a good start since they show power lines, check that against crown land maps plus your ability to scout from the air and you should be all set.
Thanks for sharing this info. I have a 50 cal rifle and a small bush plane. A friend and I are interested in locations in Northern Ontario that we could fly to for a weekend of long range shootin. Anymore info on locations similar to this would be appreciated.
I have exactly what you want. Unfortunately I live in Eastern Ontario.

I have never had issues safely shooting in this location. I have encountered 2 Conservation Officers outside of hunting season that seemed more interested in my equipment than how far I was shooting. I don't shoot in the fall as the roads pictured are constantly run by 4 wheelers during hunting season. So my respect to them to not cause problems.
There are 3 valleys that you can see. The measured distance out to the farthest point where the road goes over the last hill is 2.4km.
The only concern I have on using crown land for great distances, is that many other people use the tracts also. They walk paths, hydro accesses and such. When they should walk out of the bush, they would not be expecting a bullet to whiz by. Maybe you should be looking for an area that does not have any public access, perhaps land of a relative, friend etc. Many people may want to use "your shooting range" for their recreation ( walking, 4 wheeling, critter shooting etc.), why risk putting someone else in danger? In the bushy areas, shooting sounds seem to come from every direction, just because you are shooting there should not decrease their access.
My 2 cents worth.
just because you are shooting there should not decrease their access.
AWESOME!!
Please enlighten me and let us know what your shooting and what distance your shooting at. .
Would you mind sharing the GPS coordinate of the location? i want to know how far it is from where i live
The following picture is from an atv trip out of Algonquin Lodge in Lake St. Peter on the southeast side of Algonquin Park. North of Hastings Highlands and Maynooth. It was a couple of years ago so I cannot remember what trail it is on nut the resort could probably tell you. It is very similar to the previous photo.

If I'm not mistaken, it's the same transmission line that Barks shoots on. The line goes from the Ottawa River south through Algonquin Park. The following picture is from an atv trip out of Algonquin Lodge in Lake St. Peter on the southeast side of Algonquin Park.
