2007 was the year the Palma Match was held at Connaught. Teams from the US, UK, Australia, Germans, South Africa, Channel Islands, Kenya, West Indies, New Zealand and a partial team from Japan. But even on a year such as when the Palma match when it is held in Canada does not compare the the numbers every year in Bisley.
There isn't a better way to hone your skills than at the nationals. There are something like 25 matches just in the Grand Agg. Plus extra matches if you want. Bring lots of ammo
That sounds awesomely fun
We should talk about this more, when I get my rifle from Mick in a couple months!

I have tons of ammo but no gun to shoot it now haha
You can give me your AMMO, I am happy to take it off your hands, free of charge of course
So why dont you sum up a range report with that american eagle beater ammo koshy
I tried this rifle last night, nice doesnt begin to describe this beast in person.
Was just about to

Sooo we decided last night that we want to shoot! So here we are rushing to get to the club so that we can meet up and drive off to Al's to get some ammo, we get there 10 min before closing (meanwhile was snowing!). We cough at ammo prices but get some American Eagle 150gr x2 and Federal Premium 180gr x2 (wasn't much selection, would have prefered some 168 gr but it's all good). And then good old TR11 is like F-it and buys a Ruger 10-22 with Big Bore Hammer Forged Match Barrel and beautiful stock that even sits perfectly in my arms when I'm 6'4". So we decide to meet up at the club for 10 pm, so 4 of us later we arrive there at 10:30

Let the fun commence! We get the scopes mounted and everything with our ports set up (by 11 we are shooting)
So my experience with the rifle was amazing, I am use to a Single-Stage Trigger (Surprise), but this Direct Trigger (Two-Stage) is amazing once you get use to it, it is very clear when you are at the point of no return and it breaks very cleanly.
Thanks to the muzzle break the recoil is minimal, even one of my buddies G/F's kinda liked it so it couldn't have been that bad

Although TR11 beside me didn't like me pushing the doors with my gases into his direction (muzzle break)
Able to fire 5 rounds in relatively rapid succession without a large amount of heat (not super hot to the touch, more warm).
Groupings were tight (as in same hole) when the bench was working, but most of the time the benchrest wasn't very good... I have some ideas how to improve upon that tonight
Magazine feeds perfectly so long as you make sure the bolt is brought ALL the way back. Love the feature that allows me to "special load" an 11th round without it pulling from the mag. When you are ready to use the mag just push up on the mag and then load from the 10 mag
Bolt seemed to operate well, I think it just needs to "break in" to become smoother, that or I just need to use a little more light gun oil. Sometimes it would be super clean, sometimes it would be a little bit of a struggle, it might also have to do with the amount of pressure I am using and position of my hand, it is definetly 10x smoother then the first time I used it though.
Not sure what else to talk about at this point, last night was more shooting to shoot, have fun and sight in

Didn't touch the premium ammo. I will tonight though. I will for sure develop a better review once I am a little more familiar with the rifle, and have a chance to PROPERLY bench rest it.
So queue 3 am in the morning, feeling like it's time to go, but not tired at all! Drop one of my buds off at home, go to bed about 3:30 am... and take an entire hour to fall asleep! Friggen sweet!

Next morning I want to do it again SOOOO BADLY!!!

Try and perfect the benching to truly test the sighting in and the rifles capablility!
Results from the 25 yard mark was:
3 shots in same hole
Results from the 50 yard mark was:
3 shots almost in same hole (was a problem with benching it I THINK, especially obvious at this distance, hopefully can be resolved tonight).
If you guys have any specific questions, feel free to ask and I will do my best to give you a good, clear and fair answer.
Thanks,
- Koshy
