Used batteries and stack of pennies as shotgun slugs ?

I have a feeling that the "super ball" (that's what we used to call them when I was a kid) would probably shatter if it hit anything solid. It's basically a glorified "rubber baton" (or whatever the hell riot control folks call it) round.

From memory, those "super balls" only lasted about a week before they would crack and fall appart.

i think cops should use peanuts as nonlethal rounds, would be so much more interesting than that rubber sh*t - especially if they hit someone with a peanut allergy :D

I meant more like hardware nuts rather than edible nuts

For improvised ammo I have heard of poachers in the UK using sealing, or candle wax, to make the pellets in target loads into a solid slug for bringing down large game; but have never actually seen it done.

OK, this is how I read this. I'm going to spend hours and hours of my time manufacturing unproven "ammo" out of batteries and money. I will be breaking the law since I'll be destroying currency. I'm then going to put this ammo into my $5500 o/u and risk damaging my gun and also risk personal injury. By the end of the day I'm hoping to be $1 ahead of the game per round.

Really, I don't care if you wreck your gun or your face. With these ideas it's just a matter of time until something bad happens to you. What I care about is the kid making $8/hr who can't afford the $25/box ammo and comes across this thread and thinks this is just a wonderful idea to save some money. Maybe he'll use nickels by accident instead of pennies, and when he tries to fire it through his dad's $40 cooey 84 it blows up and puts him in hospital...I'm sure when the media starts coming around he'll be more then happy to say he found the info on www.canadiangunnutz.

Discussing this on an open forum isn't a good idea either. Can you imagine some reporter seeing this thread? I can see it now, "Canadian hunters murdering cute animals with batteries and pennies." It'll be the seal hunt BS all over. They will include a picture like this one of the "typical canadian hunter"

Anyway you can see where that's going image-wise, and the general population will eat it up. We should be trying to promote good hunting ethics and a good, law-abiding image. Making people think we're a bunch of morons isn't going to help. I'll get off my soapbox now thx

use lithium ion, the impact will de-stabilize the battery, causing it to cook the meat as it passes through the deer! I might have to buy a donair meat spindle..::eek::D you could put rocksalt on the battery for extra seasoning!

I know why I saved those US pennies,it is not unlawful to alter foregn currency. Do u think this would be a quick way to open up a full choke so I can then hunt with steel shot? :) For those wondering about shells with glue & buffering, they punch 1 hole at 50 yds and kick like hel1. I have seen it done at our local range. A stack of 177 pellets did the same. Just buy the shells & stay safe.

You have to admit he has a pretty stable rest, is very well balanced and relaxed and is using hunter orange...;)
Everyone has their own idea of the perfect stand/blind. I would probably go with a stainless synthetic rifle for this application though...lol
