Why Bullpups are SICKKKKK!

Does anyone have a list of the LOP for the bullpups in Canada (Tavor, T97 etc)?

I for one am looking forward to getting my RFB in 2012* (just before the end)... a non restricted black rifle in 308 that also happens to be bullpup in design. What a very interesting set of qualities. What better to deer, moose, and bear hunt with?

* - don't actually know the date, but Kel-Tec might have overstrode their abilities quantity wise... and they want to fill the orders for the 18" barrel before sending out the 24"... we'll see. Then just have the barrel cut back to 19", threaded for a flash h and good to go.

A LOP list would be quite handy alright. Could everyone with these rifles do a quick measure and chime in, and a chart can be whipped up tout suite.

Call me an old fart, I'd take that 10.5" LMT over that Steyr anyday.

The length of pull alone on the Steyr would bother me. Not much modularity on a Steyr either.

I was under the impression that Canada almost adopted the Steyr AUG in the late 198X (as a replacement for the C1) but fell to US and Colt pressure to procure the Diemaco C7 (and variants). It was trialed and did well as I was told....

Wasn't there a thread on the Kel-Tec bullpup a while back and it was determined that they were either not coming to Canada or were prohibited or something?

I have my order in for one. They might not get in due to US export rules but right now the main issue is the complete lack of availability. So far they've only produced about 200 and a bit of these rifles.

(RFB)I got to fondle one lastyear when Oleg Volk was photoing it. I spotted for a buddy who was trying to site it in. Pain in the arse! I wasn't impressed by it. I M currently waiting for Charles Daly to bring the Tavor out for the US market.
By the way, people overseas are calling the Tavor the AK of bullpups. And yes, living in the US I own a SBR'd AR-15.

I like the regular stock config. It may be longer in length, but at least you won't brass in the face if you shoot from the left shoulder.

The non-restricted (shoot anywhere) and short length aspects would be the most prominent features in my mind. The learning curve is also fairly short and it's quite balanced to shoot in terms of weight distribution. Being mostly polymer, it's also fairly lightweight and durable. Integrated BUIS is a plus. Perfect coyote gun.

In terms of non-restricted black rifles, we're limited to the PE90, XCR and Tavor currently, and only one is a bullpup. If we're sticking to .223, the FS2000 and PS90 also fall into this group (albeit with a longer barrel) - but we're easily getting up into the $4k+ range quickly.

The overall length advantage isn't an issue when in the field. I guess you could tie the OAL into the balance advantage which I don't see. Standard rifles aren't that heavy to begin with. The integrated BUIS is crap. Plastic sights have no place on a firearm.

Yes, when you highlight my words, it does appear that I am a poser also.
Perhaps what I should have said was:
I like guns, all guns. I prefer not to be limited to one or two styles only. I enjoy a good quality bolter just as much as anyone, but I do not want a dozen of them, all looking virtually the same. I want variety of firearms, including a bullpup or two.
I would love to go varmiting with an AR-15, but that option is no longer an option. So, I will choose another modern deseign that is not Restricted. Perhaps a bullpup....
And as the gophers are not returning fire, I will not concern myself with all the theoretical points raised here before.

I'm not offended, I could really care less what names, monickers, or categories people associate me with. I did not wish to single you out but your quote simply illustrated what many were saying discretely or were at the very least thinking.

There's nothing wrong with wanting some variety. I don't understand why one would want a significant variety. The goal to shooting is to improve ones skills. It would be near impossible to master many different systems. Besides, we all have our favorites regardless of how many or few firearms we have. I do agree that several firearms of the same style makes little sense.

Let me clarify my statement. Obviously we wouldn't shoot if it wasn't enjoyable. However, if your skills aren't improving or you aren't interested in improving your skills how is shooting enjoyable??

I agree. If someone want's to play weekend armyman or hunter bob with their firearms, who cares? Providing they are being safe and legal.
