Men use revolvers, wieners shoot fast with semis

Hahaha...at first I was going to say something, then I realised, you didn't say real men. Now we all know that distinction now don't we. :D

Ha Ha that should wake up everyone.

After years of SAA and cap and balls shooting in competition against the cops and "security" folk a good man or woman with a SAA or Cap and ball like a Colt Army .44 wins every time. Remember, that gun fights last 2.5 rounds exchanged! If there is a more long lasting fight then you hand gun is a good tool to fight your way to your horse to get your rifle!

I'm WAY more accurate with my 44mag SBH. But the Glock sits in the bedroom safe ;)

Given a choice between a loading gate one at a time, or tap-rack 10 at once, I'll take the option that uses hands, not fingers.

Of course, after the ammo's gone, the SBH would make a much better club than any glock ever made would.

I think both have their uses. Apparantly GIGN uses Manurhin .357 revolvers as well as semi-auto 9mm's.

How many shots of 9mm or .45 would equal the trauma of one hit from a .357? Not docking semi's I've got about x8 more of them than revolvers; but I'm just curious for argument's sake.

Depends on the person. Almost any of us on CGN would be killed very quickly if we got into a gunfight with Bob Munden and his Colt SAA's.

Depends on the semi. Ill take 6 rounds of 44 mag over 7 rounds of 45 acp. If this was the states things would be very different, but being that here our mags are limited to 10 rounds, I might choose my redhawk over the g17. By the time I get off 6 rounds in either the attacker is likely to be right on top of you. So I would rather have the redhawk to hit him with. LOL.

Its not what you shoot them with its where you place them. Shot placement is far more important than calibre. All handguns are anemic, a rifle or shotgun would be a better choice.

It's common knowledge that these guys trump all those tactikool, ammo wastin, spray-n-pray, police, military types

:D

Once upon a time, in a far away land, I got to shoot two pistols. Now these were the first two centerfire pistols that I had ever been able to shoot. I put about a hundred through a CZ-75 with 15 round magazines and then we moved to the revolver. It was a 6 or 7" ruger super blackhawk in .44 mag.

I decided in 6 shots that I would rather have 6 that really mattered than 15 of the other. When you go big, you can turn cover into concealment.

But then I am a huge fan of 420+ gr hard cast in my 45-70.

I think I just like the classic style of shoot big, shoot less and make it count more.

hmmm, if i had to choose between cap and ball and semi-auto i would have to go with semi-auto:p

Well clearly its the:

Super fun time Semi-auto vs. Old Revolver, security-policeman, lol gunfight, shoot your way to a horse to grab a rifle after shooting 2.5 rounds off ...WITH CAP AND BALL!!!!!! :D:D:D:D

tis a noble shooting sport, only the best can fire that .5 round.... SKillz yo.

The post did serve its purpose though, its stupidness made me stupider :dancingbanana:

not really, you just have to hit the side of the gun with another gun right as you fire to split the bullet and it will fire a half a bullet while the rest is left in the casing:p

Close in fast moving gun battles I would pick a semi any day of the week.... Both party's standing on opposite sides of the street in a stare down isn't the same as modern day concealed carry situations.

I think the best evidence as to which action type is best in a fight, was put forward by Jeff Cooper, who knew something about gun fighting. When they ran early contests in Big Bear California with very talented revolver men like Jack Weaver and Thell Reed, SA revolvers and DA revolvers often competed against pistols. From watching video of his fast draw technique, I believe Thell Reed is the fastest thing I've ever seen, and as a youngster I believe he may of been faster than Munden is now. Anyway, Cooper was of the opinion that the revolver man had to work very hard to match the performance of the pistol shooter in a realistic combat scenario.

In a vast majority of cases and individuals, quite true and with his experience, he would know. Not trying to stir the pot but a few of the more exceptional wheel gun shooters could actually shoot a tuned revolver faster than a semi-auto could actually cycle. Ed McGivern with a double action revolver comes to mind and possibly also Bob Munden with a single action.

Let's run this scenario, OK.

It's Saturday night, you're heading down main street all decked out in your
best "All White Polyester Disco Suit" (from your John Travolta collection).
You turn the corner and there he is, your arch nemesis: the evil Mr. Revolver. Now
you're too far from your horse to get your rifle, but thank God your packin your
Super Atomic Semi Automatic Pistol with the K-Tel "Never Run Dry Clip"
(Now available at Canadian Tire by the way). You can see that Mr. Revolver isn't
standing any where near his horse and to make things worse, he's wearing his
best "All Black Polyester Disco Suit", so you know some iron is going to get slapped - stupid iron.
The evil Mr. Revolver makes the first move, so you go for "ol Betsy" your SASAP, jack the slide
and come to the realization that you've aready been shot twice and Mr. Revolver's third bullet is already half
way into your forehead. Your last thoughts are: Crap, I've already been shot 2.5 times.

So there you have it folks, if John Travolta can't do it, nobody can!
And the moral of this story is: Never leave your horse if you're going to go
around dressed in a Polyester Disco Suit. :D
