Norinco CQ M16 - Whats the deal?

The United States Army site has a similar description of the M-16 rifle to the Chines CQ rifle or vice versa.

M-16
Mission

Deter and, if necessary, repel adversaries by enabling individuals and small units to engage targets with accurate, lethal, direct fire.

Yeah, but I bet the Americans don't have pictures of flying saucers on their manual :D

Does the CQ have any ammo preferences? i.e. .223 vs 5.56 surplus?

This is one of the things I like about my norinco... it's chambered for 5.56 (which means it handles .223 NO PROBLEM) so you can shoot either ammunition through it.

Flawless so far, even with my mediocre reloads and my brazen dislike of cleaning it.

Well its over 5 thousand rounds in my norc and it still fires flawless and is a tac driver the finish is less then perfect but like they say she might not be pretty but gets the job done.. I like my colt much better but for 900 bux for a plinker you cant go wrong...

Here is my norc 5.56 pig

I have a S+W M+P 15 but while in Lever recently ( to get another case of 7.62x39 !! ) I asked to handle one and I was really quite impressed. The fit and finish looked fine and in no way did it feel cheaply or poorly made. At about 60% of the cost of my S+W, I left with that feeling of 'darn, I should'ha waited" :)

How much for launcher....and where can i get one???:D:D

The one at Lever didn't feel great to me. I'll admit that it'll do the job but I wouldn't buy one...I like a little more fit/finish to my AR. I'm not flaming anyone who does buy one...it's a personal choice (just not mine).

Not 100% true. some parts are, some parts arnt

Almost everything I've tried worked. I'm running most of a Stag LPK (trigger, hammer and pins, mag release and bolt stop) a Hogue grip, Magpul stock, Midwest free float rail, Dlask Vortex FH, Armalite mount etc. The parts that I found don't interchange are fairly limited - rear pin retainer and spring (pin's just fine), and the oddball safety.

Thanks for your post. I was just considering ordering one from Lever, but decided to do a bit more research. What specifically did you not like? There is no substitute for getting one's hands on a firearm, but unfortunately I'm too far away and would have to order it sight unseen.

Was it the operation? Paint job(that's what I heard was the finish)? The final dressing of the metal work before delivery? Feel of the trigger? Rails? Grip? Anything specific? Overall feel?

As Colossal (way above) said...it felt cheap. I own 3 AR's (Colt SP1 original, modified Bushmaster and a custom build). The Norc felt rough and unpolished. It's tough to describe but all my AR's are silky smooth in operation whereas that Norc wasn't (think tinny...). I'm not saying all Norc's are bad (I own 2 other Norc's...an M14 and an SKS) but that is my opinion on that particular AR at Lever. I'd recommend getting a quality lower and upper from Questar (with their sale it'll only be a couple hundred more). A much better rifle overall in my opinion.
