Walked in looking to see if they had a refurb black bolt shooter & walked out with this 1954 Tula.

Beautiful quality, too bad about the frankenpin.
It was the Miss store off of Dundas. They had at least a few more including a IZH in a laminate stock.

I picked up a nice laminate stock '54 Izhevsk tonight from the Mississauga store. I really like it. Nice dark red laminate, reciever, bolt, carrier, trigger group serial numbers match, and all blued!
I'll still be grabbing a chinese one from John when they come in lol

Can you post any pics of the frankenpin?
What is a frankenpin? I googled, and found nothing
I am thinking about picking one up, anything I should watch out for? I doubt they'll let me inspect them, but has anyone gotten any with a damaged/pitted barrel? damaged crown? or are these refurbed well?
this will be my first gun, I just got my PAL, I figure it's a cheap toy to get me part of the owners club, until I get my SPS
see the pin - visible in the second mag very well

To better elaborate, from bottom to top:
1) PROPER pin. The IZH first shipment was like this, as have been some of the earlier Chinese imports and the odd Yugo (though some of those had a hot-glued piece of sheet metal in the mag to block it).
2) Lever Arms import. Basically stacked washers with a bolt through them welded at the top and bottom of the mag cover - very ugly. The first frankenpin type.
3) machined cylinder welded into the bottom of the mag cover. Not quite as ugly as the Lever method, but still a frankenpin. This is what present imports have. the mags were not re-blued, the bottoms got a stripe of black paint instead to cover the weld. Serial numbers were obliterated so these are re-numbered on the side of the mag with electropencil.
