There was a time when I use to hunt with my Colt 20" Delta HBAR.
Until Kim and Allen messed things up for us.....

What can you and I do for AR owners to get our gun rights back?.....

Thats a good question. I think we are going up #### creek without a paddle on this one. Im not concerned about getting them non restricted. Im more concerned if I will have one in 10 years due to whats going on with the T97 right now.

In my opinion no.

The law has been in place for too long, and too many people support it.

Like CdnCombatMedic said, I am more concerned with it becoming prohibited then getting it non-restricted.

The Conseratives won't even go near it, my MP told me he does not see any firearm going on a prohib list ever coming off it, so don't count anyfire arm on a restricted list ever comong off it. The conserative are no differentr than the NDP or the Liberals, they just make a lot of noise just to get our votes.

Ive been wondering the same lately. Is this a realistic concern? Im looking to buy my first black rifle and I think ive decided that an AR seems like a better deal than most non-restricted black rifles, but especially with what is happening to our T97 friends, im almost wondering if I should just spend more and get a non-res. but in some cases its almost twice as much as a decent AR, but I doubt your getting twice the gun.

Americans, from what i understand are going through yet another gun related phenomenon that may or may not link to the collage shooting.

Such as after Columbine, gun activists got the foot hold they needed. But the collage shooting had the opposite effect, the people who were there realized that the only defense they had was the one they brought with them, I.E. no deffence at all.

Now armed civilians are taking up their rights. It is getting to the point that some gun laws are being scrapped, in favor of the general publics right to bear arms.

This could happen in Canada: The sudden realization that some places you go in this country, you cant call the cops, its not an option in the middle of nowhere, let alone have them arrive in minutes. So their is always hope, I dont see this anti gun craze lasting forever.

Foe instance: A few weeks before 9/11 I had a debate with a number of my co workers in this reguard. They though I was nuts to think anyone would need a gun in good ol' Canada. But just one day after 9/11, When the shock and silence wore off, the subject was addressed again, without me initiating it. Suddenly they realized I was right, because they didn’t feel comfortable or safe as they once did.

Its not to say: Lets hope a tragedy happens to shake theses people out of stupidity. But eventually s**t does happen.

Expanding the rights of "free" citizens to keep and bear arms in "democratic" countries is contrary to the mandate of the United Nations. I hate to sound like a pessimist, but I wouldn't hold my breath. That's just my opinion - hopefully I'm wrong.

Why would that be the case?

I dont have 100% of the facts when i post this but what i remember is that Ar-15 were originally supposed to be prohib but they couldnt classify them as that. Turns out there is a annual shooting compatition where there is a medal given by the queen. Civilians comepete against the military for the medal. As such civilians need a ar-15 to be able to compete in the compatition agaisnt the military who uses the C7. So im guessing if the military changes its service rifle in the future the ar-15 will become prohibited like it was originaly supposed to be.

That is just what I vaguely remember someone telling me. Im sure someone will chime in soon with the 100% right facts.

If I had to hedge my bets, I would say something to the opposite effect to what you'd want to happen would happen. If there's a campus shootout on Canadian soil, the screaming voice won't be saying, "GIVE US LIBERTY!"...

Get out and shoot service rifle with your AR. People shooting tin cans at their range or trying to look cool in front of a mirror lack credibility. People who compete at a provincial level have instant cred even with non shooters. Trying to make your AR look cool and plinking do nothing to legitimize the AR.

Think about it if someone asks "what you do with your rifles" which of these sounds like you are a responsible gun owner with a legitimate use for your firearms.

"I compete at the Provincial level in Dominion of Canada Rifle Association sanction Service Rifle matches"

"I am ranked 18th nationally in Service Rifle and am training to be 1st"

"I go to the range and shoot stuff"

The last one is what I hear from most gun owners that I know and it irritates the hell out of me.

There are two Queens Medals for champion shot awarded each year in Canada. One for top Reserve shot and one for top Regular force shot. Nothing for Civilians. For years DCRA ran matches where civilians competed shoulder to shoulder with soldiers. Now CFSAC (Canadian Forces Small Arms Competition) is used to determine who wins the two Queens Medals.

The DCRA fought to keep the FN and the AR15 legal in Canada and had to choose one luckily they chose the AR. For decades fewer and fewer people have been joining the DCRA and competing in their Service Rifle matches.

What Gunnerlove said.

I know it sounds foolish and "teenager wants to change the world" but...

The future is ours, its up to us to make it what we want it to be.

These old politician crusts in Ottawa are only there to keep the seats warm.

QM 2009 get it.

I have a firm belief that shooting provincial and national service rifle matches is our/your best first step to keeping our black rifles.

And hell the matches are the most fun you can have standing, sitting, kneeling and prone.

Thats some elitist B-S right there. Why are we obligated go join service matches to legitimize owning any gun? Whats wrong with just owning one and enjoying it.

Im sorry "most gun owners irritate the hell out of you" but maybe if all gun owners would stick up for each other even if its not there style of gunplay our "credibility" wouldnt have been taken in the first place.
