Buffer
? the bolt never contacts the cover ever
Thanks for the info, gents.
Sorry, I should have explained a bit more. I was thinking about mounting a scope on the dust (reciever) cover without the locking screws on the sides. Just wondering if the cover will get losser as more rounds are fired. I guess it would be at the pin? Oblong the hole, or curve the pin a bit to make the cover losser? Has anyone noticed if their cover is more loose now than when they bought the gun?
I do think the bolt does hit the rear of the cover. I can see how a buffer would take away the shock, but I think contact would still be there?
I agree with Dsiwy the rear cover without the side screw sucks!Cover scope mounts dont hold a zero and will disappoint you. Look at a PSO scope mount or a scout scope mount.
Well, I didn't realize buffers are irrelevant, I guess I can dig mine out and throw it away. Nobody seems to accept that the gas system is working at full power and then some on an SKS. Take a look at this:

I'll have to take a look at my rifle and see what's going on there with the buffer, I don't see how any buffer would be marketed if - you know, it was going to destroy the rifle it was marketed for, but . . . Anyways, I am going to try the gas cylinder modification as soon as I get all the pieces in one place.
^thanks for the link, didn't know about them - buffers sold out, if they even ship to Canada. . .![]()
