PAL "in progress"

28 days exactly today and it's in the mail. Nice!
I think the excessive background and personal investigations I've undergone for the last year may have helped.

Too bad you can't go pick it up in person or I'd take the afternoon off and drive down.

Mine took 60 days from the time they recived it.

It really help to call, I did twice, the first time they told me that it was at "the final stage" wich is on the desk of Québec CFO in Montreal. So they couldn't tell me anything more. Next time I asked to be transfert to the CFO office in Montréal and and asked them (nicely) if there was a problem. About 10 min after I hang up my girlfriend got a call from the CFO office as part of the background check and it was approved right away. They actually told her at the end of the conversation it was approved.

So morale of the story, by all mean call! It took them 20 min from the moment I call to approve it, but they had my file for more than a month and never did so...

And oh yeah, To reach the Québec (dont' know about the others) CFO you dial ext. 7005 after calling the 1-800 canadian firearms program.

Was in middle of checking my pal status and gave me the "application has completed initial processing" then my phone rang and it was the RCMP and they gave me the regular interview, "Are you suicidal?" blah blah. Checked PAL status couple hours later and...

Application Received on: 2010/03/05

Definitely call and check!!CFC received my app for a restricted licence Jan.22, contacted me and my references Feb 9 and the same day it was posted that my app had completed initial processing.April 1 still nothing.Called them and was told that if I didn't hear anything by April 9, call them again and they would put me in touch with the CFO for Alberta.Called them on April 9 and they put me through to my CFO,was told they were still dealing with Nov 09 apps.30 seconds later was told my app was approved and should be here in two weeks. One week to go and still waiting! To top it off I have had my FAC/Pal since 1979

I got it today. Took exactly 45 days overall.

The weird thing is not only they didn't call any of my references but they didn't even call me! I never spoke to them.

Oh well...it's not like it's a bad thing.

Went to check the mail first thing this morning and there it was. 48 days from the time I sent it out to today, could be alot worse! Just that mailing time is killer!

done!

I live downtown Vancouver. Roughly 28-30 days since sending in my paperwork. Both references were called today, and I was called also.
Tonight, my status shows as "Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued."

I disclosed that I had a major breakdown/seperation in the past two years, and had my former partner signed my paperwork. I assume that they contacted her as well.

No fuss, no muss.

^ I'm in a similar situation right now. They received my paperwork 29 days ago and still haven't called me or my references. Do I phone them then?
