I am pretty sure most of the shooters got the same message. Since this has nothing to do with ON BOD so am asking a question on here:
when this practice is going to stop!
This is stupid as stupid can be.
Either get your man to the squads and then open the match to public or keep it just for yourselves, invitations only.
When I shoot and everyone pretty well knows me here I do f....... work so 90% others. Not that I only work, but if I am the last squad I put all the equipment back to shelter, so does 75% shooters.

This practice is very annoying. Please do not send me any messages if I can not sign up for the match.

I think you do not understand how it works. Similar to the confusion about the Sharon match. By work they are refering to RO's and CRO's. Are you an RO or CRO? If not then it does not affect you. Work does not mean patching or setting steel, that's something all shooters should be doing on their squad anyways.
If there are not some incentives to get the officials to come out and help it can be difficult to get enough to efficiently put on a match. No matches means no shooting.
Big thanks to all the officials that do come out on a regular basis and don't need incentives (you know who you are)!as for the notification it is just a courtesy email to let you know what is going on with upcoming matches...consider it a warning order that the match will soon be open for sign up
 
I thought the note was guite clear:

Match sign-up is now open for shooters who work the match. Match sign-up will open for all other shooters one week before the match. Workers match fee is $15.

If you don't want to RO, wait for a week and pay full price. Seems simple enough...

You can sign-up for the match, just book one work slot (not on the squad you are shooting on). You don't have to be an RO, however we do need RO's to run each squad so we need some RO's on every work squad.

This is an automated message that can be removed from your settings if you don't want to receive them anymore.

I don't think that it's stupid to ensure that the people willing to help at the match have first chance at booking. Without the workers there is no match!

I hope that this practice is just getting started. I'd like to see more match directors offering this at other clubs.
 
Sitting happily on the sidelines (and I'm not worried because I do work (RO) more than my share of matches) but if I understand this correctly...I strongly disagree with the practice.

The match should be opened up to everyone at the same time. I appretiate the fact that we are always short of help...but this is not the answer.

Case in point...if I want to shoot a Level 2 at EESA (as an example) I'll drive up Friday nite...arrive to EESA on Saturday for an early squad...shoot (and patch) then head home. If I were (as an example) required to work the afternoon squad...that would mean either staying an addiional nite...or attempting the 6 hour drive home after a full day on the range. I would assume if time was tight...I would just choose to not shoot the match.

Ultimatly...this just gives preference to local shooters.

The current rules (unless they've changed in the last 3 months) are clear. The match opens up to all current members at the same time...

The process is obvioulsy different at the larger matches (Levels 3's) where there is a pre-shoot.

if you don't want automatic updates from the IPSC Matches system, then just turn them off.. this is a feature of the system that YOU CAN CONFIGURE to be notified when future matches are posted up.

Since the default is to NOT UPDATE you, I assume the only reason you are getting them is because you told the system to..

just login to IPSC Matches, click on the "To signup for email match updates", and remove yourself from the lists (clubs) you are on..

you can solve the problem yourself instead of looking to others to do it for you ;)

Unless I'm totally off base...I don't think it's the automated message that has him fired up (based on his mention of "working")

you should read them again..

the May Barrie match is posted on the IPSC ontario web site so it's met the only rule that applies. There is nothing that says what restrictions the online system can/cannot have....or when they open for "registration" and to whom.

There are no rules that say you have to accept registrations with in our outside of an external system like the IPSC matches site..

and what good is posting this request out on a system which you are not sure the BOD or the MD even reads..

you might as well have the same effect as going outside and yelling it..

if you seriously want action taken then contact the MD or the BOD and raise your issues..

having a "discussion" on the way it's done is one thing. (there are lots of people here to "discuss" it).. but if you want changes then you have to direct your issues at the right people in the right fashion.

and why is that?? this is not a dictatorship.. this is supposed to be a sport that promotes new ideas, challenges, and concepts.. is against the rules to shoot a match dressed up in a santa outfit???

This IPSC ON signup site is not IPSC Ontario domain page, rather a person who believes this will help with signing up for matches. I can not go to BOD and ##### there. I voice my opinion, here, since this is not BOD issue. IMO is not right to send a shooter a message that match is open for sign up.
Maybe if this will change and will say match is open only for workers at this time, then I at least will wait till I get the message for shooter.

Is this that hard to understand?

You have mention dictatorship,
then tell me what is it, if you are not working as sign up worker then you wait for your turn.
I know we need workers, but IMO this is wrong way of getting them.
Most of people work during matches. I know I do, and guys who travel with me. Last year according to statistic run by euxx, I have attended most of the matches in Ontario and have never hear a word of complain about my working ethics. Not bad for CAW member :D

This is not an issue about an external system. it's about having the match open at the same time for everyone (as you stated).. that is 100% within the rules that IPSC ontario is mandated to control. (if they choose to.)

if you can't do it as a general rule, then it applies to ANY implementation, if it's by phone, email, or an online system.
