Black Rifle Optics...

For a CQB rifle is there a big difference between the 2MOA and 4MOA dot?

If you want to make tiny groups - yes.

If you want to hit the target - no.

T1 is rated as 4MOA dot, but it's really closer to 3. Even then, PLENTY small for shooting accurately at 100-200.

It's not a precision optic - but most CQB rifles don't need that much precision.

Remeber gents, in CQB where speed & Accuracy count, "minute of centre Mass" is the measure of accuracy, and up to 200m, a 3.5 moa dot may actually be advantageous for speed of target aquisition.

But, heck, what do I know right??

Yup...

Something to mention though... On Aimpoint's you can just leave the optic turned on and on the brightest setting if you need a bigger dot or plan to use it as a home defense firearm.

With the T-1/H-1's on the lowest settings will be around 2-3MOA, the medium settings are 3-4MOA, and the highest settings with semi-fresh battery's will be even larger.

Just something to think about :)

I have a HAMR and about 6 Delta Points.

I have a Delta Point on the wife's Glock.

The HAMR was a disappointment -- its better optically than an ACOG, but at the end of the day its not like most of the new Leupy stuff.

I'm much more stoked about the Mk6 lined up: the 1-6 and the 3-18x.
Both of these are priced agressively and a great scope too.
I expect them to be debuted at SHOT for the commercial market.

If you want it for a paper plinker go right ahead. If you taking it to the field or going to jump it or use it actively -- stay away.

What's wrong with them? I was thinking about getting one, I won't go to battle with it but at the price they command I would expect a lot...

Hey Kevin, great sticky!

Just wondering what some good options are for T1 mount for an AR15. I have been searching around the web and had my sight set on the LaRue mounts, but I cant seem to find who sells them in Canada. I think I would also prefer a pure co-witness as apposed to a lower 1/3rd. Of course, I am open to all opinions.

had my sight set on the LaRue mounts

You and me both.

No experience with the KAC mount, but One Shot sells this:

I use a ADM mount for my T1 and have not had any issues with it, but it has gone through only light/medium use (Courses, tac rifle match, noob shoots). You can find it at the TSE here:

At lunch I took some pictures in the backyard with the Mk6's and the CQBSS

I used a M110K2 with Mk6 1.1-6x CMR-W (7.62)
my personal SR-25 ECC with Mk8 CQBSS
SR-25 ECR upper with Mk6 3-18x H58

I did not use the 1-6c or 1-8x with the illumination as 1) I ran out of time at lunch (plate carrier is still in the yard) 2) I can't seem to get good pictures thru the scopes with the iPhone.

I will note the pictures at 1x are not a good representation - as I can see the reticles easily - and it was farily easy to center the crosshair on the 3-18x on the vest and pick it up -- when I have some time I will try with my bigger camera -- I may just mount the optics to a chunk of Pic rail on my spotting scope to better steady them - the guns where braced on the spotting scope - so not a great deal of stability to take pictures.

Interestingly, the larger tube doesn't allow a larger objective lens. Particularly the Mark6 has an objective of 20mm in a 34mm tube!?
If I understand correctly, the more zooming power you use, the less light you gather. Therefore, a 8x24mm won't be optimal in low-light, no matter how great are your lens. I believe the optimal 7mm exit pupil is lost at 3.4x with a 24mm objective. So that additional zooming power isn't useful in every lighting condition.

I'm shopping slowly for my next optic to put on what I hope will be my C8IUR.

I'd still like to try a ShortDot one of these days and the Mark 6 has my attention.

My other rifle has an ACOG and the wife's has a TA31 ECOS, never mind the spare T1 I have on a shelf.

Suggestions?

Optisan prestige 1x6x24 ? Or leupold VX6 1x6x24?

Any personal experience on those?

I should also add that I would like to be able to put it on my work gun and not to have to worry too much (at all) that it is going to #### the bed at the wrong time...
No experience , the review on the optisan are good, I read somewhere the glass and internal parts are made in Japan, and sent to china for assembly. It's going for around $900 canadian. I'm also looking at the VX 6 1x6x24, it's going for around $1300 canadian. I'd like to hear if anybody has tryed either of these. (Work gun?). There's a review done on the optisan by Jim fish...(think he's some kinda scope reviewer). He also designed the reticle.

Any thoughts on the NSX 2.5-10x42 or 32. With zero stop?
I am looking for optics for a .308 18.6 inch barrel rifle for service conditions competitions.
I am totally open to any other suggestions. As I shoot other scoped rifles with nightforce in completion would prefer to only turrets that click in the same direction.
