I'd love to know what the criteria is becasuse my M4 took 3-4 days recently when someone else who bought an M4 from the same dealer at the same time took a few weeks. I have a transfer started this morning for a G34 and if it takes 4 weeks like some of the others here I may have to buy a non-restricted in the meantime just to keep my sanity. :p I asked when I called in if there was a backup and she said no. I said I heard it's taking 4-5weeks and she said she was not aware of that.

You're on the list now :p

Considering the Baretta M92FS and the CZ 75B. I haven't tried any of them, nor I have the means to try them right now. My only option for the moment---order through Internet, then wait for the LTATT, and only then try at the range.

I don't have big hands, but don't want a small and tiny pistol that looks like a toy. Which one of the two would you recommend?

I have pretty big hands and I was astonished at how well I shot the M9. It fit like a glove and had a very sweet SA pull with a pretty nice reset. I found the sights on a shadow to be better but the grips were too small. I wouldn't mind trying a shadow again with nice chunky grips.

Hi. So, I am the guy who started this thread. Thank you very much for your posts, I really appreciate it and also learned a lot. And also, I made my choice.

I chose the Beretta. Now, don't get me wrong--I did consider the CZ very much, however as a first handgun, I decided to go with the 92, mostly because of the looks. Also, I felt like I would like my first handgun to have a more conventional slide, big one, that I can grab with my hand and pull, instead of the one that slides inside as it is with the CZ (although they say it makes the CZ more accurate..).

There is a very big positive point for the CZ that it is all metal. I liked that. However, the solution presented itself to me---I found a place, which has (had) one of the 92FS INOX models in stock! Stainless steel! Great looks, and also all metal (well, not all as it's the American one, but most things...frame is aluminium too..). Probably many of you will disagree why I would like the metal stuff---it's just how I feel! I have a few pellet pistols, and I thought that I want something that is made of metal, for the difference you know...

Anyway, I still don't have a PAL/RPAL license. In fact, I haven't even challenged the exams yet (registered for the course in two weeks and the exams). That pretty much, from what I read, puts me about 2-3 months away from having the license. Despite that, I paid for the handgun and now it's in the store with my name hanging on a tag from it. Will be waiting for me there. But I got it, and I can't be happier about it! :)

Thanks a lot. Maybe my second handgun will be a CZ. But for now---I went with the Beretta.

Cheers!

You won't regret it. Had a father and son shoot Berettas at my Black Badge course and they did very well.

You would be hard pressed to find a pistol that has a better shaped grip than a CZ. Unless you have the hands of a sasquatch, you will probably find the grip of the Beretta quite large.

i have a 90-two, had to buy the slim grips for that reason.

im priviledged to have tried both, while my own pistol is a beretta, the cz looks , feels and shoots good

but my beretta has never let me down, not even one jam after 4000 rounds...these babies are made to last.

wtf??
does everyone here have hands the size of a small chimpanzee?:p
I had to put hogue grips on my 96G

Great choice enjoy it when you get it.

You mentioned a second handgun, so go ahead and buy a CZ in .40 or think about a Sig in Sig.357 or .40. Then you'll start to really learn what you like and what you don't.

It's hard to compare one handgun .... against what?

Now if you have two .....

I haven't shot either and have been reading about the Berretta. I have large, wide hands (wear an XL glove) and I think the Berretta if it is made for large hands will work for me. I'm going to buy my first handgun, so I want to try as many as I can. I've tried a full size Glock and S&W in 9mm and a Kimber 1911 Custom and so far my favourite is the Kimber.

Is the Berretta all steel construction? All steel, big grip, sounds like it would be a good fit for me. But I have to try. I've read about the trials that the US Army has put the Berretta through. Does that bulletproof reputation hold up in real life or is it B.S? People are saying their Glock is unstoppable. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks.

I have large friends who are into bodybuilding, they are taller, built like tanks, then look at their little girl hands. Maybe it's my Eastern Block bloodline.

Hands down my fav is a 92 series (Beretta or Taurus - not counting my 93).. they are very well built.. though the newer Beretta's come with a polymer rod for some stupid reason. I've worked with many of them and never had an issue. Oh and they are steel and aluminum not just steel alone.

Glocks have a good rep.. but also have a rep for some flaws as well though.

As for hand size.. a 92 will fit your hand nicely I'd say.. but it is best to actually handle some to see what you like the feel of best and can operate the controls easily. Everyone is different after all and there is no substitute for handling them yourself regardless of what others say or prefer.
