what revolver would you recommend in 357

Wasn't Josey Wayles SA's a cartridge conversion of a colt cap 'n ball? Been about a year or so since I've seen it, have to watch it again @.@

You might be right chuck, I am no history expert.
Thought I just bought a few John Taffin books. Come winter might get time to read them.;)

My intent was to offer an opinion away from the herd.:stirthepot2:
And yes I have owned a 686 and GP 100. Looking back preferred the ruger.

We all have the 4 click cocking sound of a SA revolver embedded in our DNA from so many old cowboy movies.

And I wish I had known about gunbroker usa and prophet river when I did my shopping spree for hand guns a few years back. WHY???
Having choice and not overpaying when an item is not normally in stock. Like here...

Josey Wales used a pair of Colt Walker cap and ball revolvers.

As for the lockup of S&W revolvers, some side-to-side play of the cylinder is normal. Colts, to name one example, should have no rotational play at lockup. The trade-off of this extra-tight "bank vault" lockup is that they require more frequent gunsmith attention to keep them that way; as soon as a Colt develops any side-to side play at lockup, it needs to be fixed to keep it from growing rapidly into a serious timing problem.

Just about any S&W or Dan Wesson, Colt python, Ruger GP100. Ya can't go wrong with any of those. My personal favorites are the S&W 686 and The Dan Wesson M715. The Colt python is probably slightly better on average than my favorites especially with lighter bullets but i personally find it to be ugly. Once you but a wolf spring kit into a 686 it's really close to a python.

GP-100.

I purchased the blued 4.2" first and then had to get the SS 4.2" also. The SS was for the Mrs. IOWEGAN 's Guide for the Ruger revolvers is a must have companion ...see Ruger forum for more info on the guide.

Get a 4.2" Ruger GP100. They are the sweetest revolvers being made right now. I have the 6" and it's nice too. :D

This. Plus the fact that it's 4.2", 0.1" over the line from being prohibited, makes Wnedy Cukier cry. If you're going to buy a gun, might as well buy one that f**ks with our moronic laws a little.

Plus, it's built like a reinforced uparmoured brick ####house; you can shoot all the .357 you want without fear.

Just purchased a Ruger GP100 4.2" stainless. Can't wait until I get it. Most of the dealers above sell them, although a lot of them were currently sold out.

id say go with a ruger , the typical 686 is amazing but if i could get another 357 right now id get one of those 4 ish inch rugers , whatever you do dont by a 686 new unless your sole intention is supporting a dealer as you will be able to find a LNIB 686 for almost half the price... or if i wanted another full L frame id go with a colt used . The biggest thing is getting what feels, shoots and looks good for you !

Personally, I really like the S&W 627-5. 8 shots and I love the look of the angled front. I dont know why its so appealing to me but I think its a real sharp looking revolver. I just wish they made one in .44mag

Interesting...
Where do I get one of these?
Can be installed at home?
Your local shop can probably order a spring kit for you from Wolf or Brownells, or you can do it yourself. They come with a reduced power mainspring and several different rebound springs so you can choose the one that works best in your gun. Installation isn't difficult if you're comfortable removing the side plate.

Wheelgun recommendations in .357 Mag?
