That applies to changing the barrels of Restricted firearms ,Changing a Non restricted firearm to a restricted status makes the Firearm at the worst case a prohibited device. You do not have the 30 day notifaction process if you were to change the barrel it must be done immeaditly upon completion and must be verifed . Changing barrel on a restricted rifle the owner has 30 days in which to notify the CFC

A barrel can be interchanged in a firearm and if it's length drops below 18.5" it's classification changes to restricted. You have 30 days to call the CFP and re-classify your firearm. Not doing so makes the firearm prohibited.

If you have a non-restricted Sten and buy a short barrel which you can do, it takes 30 seconds to change the barrel. After doing it you call the CFP and change the status. Been through all of this with Technical Services.

They don't need an OIC to reclassify a firearm ,they only need it to meet the requirements a barrel under 18.5 inches does this

Right, so if the barrel is greater than 18.5", without an OIC or act of parliament, there's FA they can do short of claiming it meets the Hasselwander criteria and is therefore prohibited.

You could always just buy another caliber kit from wolverine, and then send the barrel to ATRS and get them to make you like a 11.5" or whatever you want.

Is this a viable option?

Would it mean you could switch your firearm from non-restricted to restricted by replacing the barrel? Is this legal? do you need to notify RCMP everytime you change it?

thanks

so does anyone have some concrete info about the rob arms xcr cqb and when it may start selling in Canada?

Judging by the number of post that don't come anywhere near to answering your question.

We don't know.:(

Just go out and buy the 552...

...didn't you already post that you just bought one in a different thread.

Okay this thread is officially useless now.:bangHead:

Except that we won't make a barrel less than 18.5" unless we have confirmation the rifle has be reregistered as restricted. We ain't sticking our heads in that noose for anyone.

you cannot export a barrel from the states, for a rifle, shorter then 16 inches.
unless they sell XCR pistol barrels, aint gonna happen here for us.

BULL! We get short AR barrels out of the US all the time. We got some 14.5's just the other day and we have a bunch of 11.5's in stock.

God f**king Damn It, there are 600,000,000 restricted CQB rifles already in the country, why do you have to risk f**king up the XCR???? Go buy an AR
