The white tails just don't seem to wanna move around the bush right now.Been 6 weeks and haven't even drawn the bow.

Think we need a good -10 snap to get their tails in gear.

Never seen it so bad, anybody else having a slow year?

Been slow over here near Ottawa. We've seen mostly coyotes, and if my hunting partner was a half decent shot with his bow we'd be seeing two less. Out looking for new properties as our main two are pretty well pooched.

Its waay to hot and our weather patterns have really changed. I noticed this all summer chasing walleye during Tournaments, all the patterns seemed to be 3-5 weeks behind usual. I suspect this will effect the deer patterns as well.

Wierd, I filled my first tag in less than 15 minutes of setting up in the stand. Best start to the season ever!

Seeing lots of movement here getting frost at night bucks are grunting making scrapes and rubs. I'm heading out in the A.M. for the day and possibly monday morning hope to see some action.

I've been seeing deer every weekend I've been out, they're staying in areas where I can't get a clear shot, but within 40 yards
Fingers crossed, but its looking like it may well be a good season

Saw a lot of tracks earlier this year, more than usual.

Got my moose on day 2 of hunting. Would have had one on day 1 if I didn't suck.

Whereabouts are you hunting? I am in Hamilton as well.

I am in central Sask and it seems like we are at least 10 degrees above normal, no calling signs, no rubs, no scrapes, camera picking up action but at odd times. very frustrating
this year. Last year i was watching 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 deer go buy me each morning , now this year I haven't had one come through at any morning yet and I been at it since Sept 1st. Just was wondering if It wasn't unique to my area.

Action will pick up this week. Things have cooled off over the weekend, night time lows are back to where they should be and as you've likely noticed the ducks and geese are starting to move.

It'll be a couple days, but this coming weekend should provide some action.

I also filled my tag within 2 hours, now what?

That's the dilemma isn't it. My goal is to kill something in the last hour of the last day of the season so I get to hunt as long as possible. I will often shoot a meat doe in a zone with a non-trophy season, and spend the rest of the season passing up shots at anything that isn't a real trophy until that last day. Lots of times I'm left with unused tags, but that's fine if I get to hunt many days.

If you shoot the first chance you get, your hunting is over. The most important technique necessary to get a really big deer is to not shoot a little one.

Same here in the Cold Lake area. A little over a week ago, bumped into a big black bear & two does. Two days later seen just one doe. So I've been small game hunting ever since. Rabbits in the morning & evening and grouse usually sun themselves mid-day.

It's been at least 4 days since I've last seen any deer.

I feel for you having tags and limits, that said its been awkward here. The weather has been very mild and damp. Its only starting to get cold enough for the central heating in the evenings this week. I've been out after Fallow Bucks mainly but been seeing either Fallow does or Roe Bucks. maddeningly for 4 days I stalked a 350 acre wood near me and 3 of those times I got really close to a 1 antlered pricket in a herd of does. so odd that we had to shoot him. I told the wood owner that he has to be a priority shot this winter even if it means passing up a trophy buck. Roll on 1st November, big day stalking all does all day!

Out of 3 American clients iin the last 2 weeks, 2 complained about the no archery hunting laws over here. I have yet to be convinced either way. Seeing how we can shoot every day.

I've been hunting around PA since the beginning of bow season. There are deer moving. They tend to be moving in the open in the mornings. For the evening hunt hunt they don't move till the last 30 minutes before legal shooting. This saturday the scrapes are starting to show up but no rubbing on the trees yet. I tend to set up a few hundred yards back in the treeline behind fields showing feeding activity. I've seen deer almost every time out but no wall hangers yet just a couple of spikers and a not too bad 3X3.

One in the freezer for us so far and am hoping for some good horns once the rut starts. Good luck there are deer around you'll get your chance soon. There has been a definite increase in deer traffic in the last two weeks. Try a decoy it has worked for me a few times even with does. Try sitting on stand from about noon to about 3 if you are in the deep bush. They will move around in cover that time of day. If it is really windy stay home because they'll just sit tight in the really thick stuff and your only chance is to push them if you've got a couple of buddies.
