Maurice, I didn't mean to bash IPSC Canada, but I'm not happy with the way they treat USPSA shooters. I do apologize for getting you up in a bunch.
Since you bring up motorcycle course; I took and completed one, and got my MC license a while back and I DO think it was great to have this available to NEW riders. I rode a bike for a few years, really enjoyed it and would do it again (had to sell the bike). Does it mean I have to take the same course another time 'cos I sold my bike a year+ ago? I don't think so.
I played sports for 10+ years, seriously, on fairly high level, I know one can loose or misplace uniform, but muscle memory and technique will stay with you for lifetime. Even if you get a little 'rusty', you are still to fit in. I tried to play same sport here in Canada (I'm not originally from Canada) and people on the team were 10-20 years behind in concepts and technique. Do we want the same to happen to IPSC Canada vs IPSC or USPSA, in general? I do know that there are many talents here, not saying I'm one of those.
When I have money and time, I'll def have to and will take BB course to take part in IPSC matches in Canada, untill then, I'll continue shooting IDPA in Canada/USA and USPSA in USA.
And I'm seriously considering getting Life Time Membership with USPSA for US$600. If I get to shoot another 15-25 years, it's well worth it.
There is Sport and there is Professional Sport; I'm not paid to train and compete, most people here don't. Make this Sport available and approacheable to wider audience, only then we can be successful.
euxx, It was a fraction, I don't agrue with that, and I am a full member of 2 clubs, one in Canada and one in USA, RO at a Canadian range and about to become SO at another Canadian range.
I do fully agree, NEW shooters should take BB course, I don't really understand why shooters with track record should.
When I came to Canada 16 years ago, I didn't have to take driving lessons again (I had another DL), I just went to take the tests - theory and road test and got passed. Rules may be a little different, skills are the same.
I'm not trying to 'upset' anyone here, but I may have a little different concepts and logics in my thinking. We can still be friends and live and train and compete together. Different mindset doesn't have to mean - enemy.
Very often, we don't agree with things but do comply with rules and laws, take Firearms Act....
