Mossberg Tactical .22

Any tips you got would be appreciated. Im going to try the wildcat ammo again. Maybe it just needed that good initial cleaning.

My 702 absolutely HATES Winchester Wildcat ammo. I find it to be very, very dirty ammo. The same thing happens with Remington Thunderbolt.

That said, it loves American Eagle roundnose or hollowpoint .22 ammo.

I keep it well lubed up and use clean ammo, and I have no problems with it. I can't see the Tactical .22 being any different seeing as how it is a 702 underneath the plastic.

I wonder if Mossberg will sell the plastics separately for those of us that would like to convert our 702's?

So for you guys with this gun, the plastics, do they feel really really cheap or...?

Im in the market for a new "plinking" .22 for around my farm, and I love the tactical semi auto's.
So its between this one, the remington, and the ruger for sure.

The ruger is heavier by far if you don't own a ruger then buy it I like the carry handle look so bought the Mosberg as I already own a ruger 10/22 target with thumb hole stock so bought the mossberg to see how it works and mine works fine but best to handle one if you can

The plastic feels and looks reeeeeaaaaally cheap once you've got it in your hands! Loose parts, seams everywhere, cheap construction....a poor attempt if you're looking for a quality, dedicated rifle. It was really the main things that turn me off about this gun (other than the rough action). But, it's the least expensive, looks nice (from a far) and is really light. So if that's enough for you, then the Mossber is your best choice.

If you're going to go with only one of the above, spend the extra money on the Ruger SR-22. Solid and well built, shoots any kind of ammo and shoots it well, plenty of aftermarket dress up parts readily available and a wide variety of high capacity mags.

I just picked mine up. It is light and looks good to me. I am going to clean it up and give it a try if the rain lets up. Bushnell 4-12 going on for accuracy testing and may even stay there.

Cleaned it up and blazed a few out the back door, functions fine with AE. Still pouring out so no accuracy test today. I really like this gun. Well worth the $300, now if they just get the high cap mags I will have a new favorite toy.

Stripped mine down last night make sure you got a good phillips srewdriver for all the little stock screws but it went easy .I was surprized that the internals had a design similar to the 10/22 the hammer spring is a coil spring and everything except the bolt return spring is set up much like the ruger. the bolt return srping has a rod and is inline with the bolt instead of off to one side like the ruger the internals look much better than my 597 rem the trigger group looks like a cap gun in the rem.

Damn I bummed....
Cabelas spelt my birthplace wrong on the application transfer to the CFC and it was rejected.
After 3 phone calls I got it straighten around, so they have re-submitted my transfer and I'm STILL waiting for my Mossy.... :(

Very reliabe

Recev my yesterday, i clean it inside very important lost of grees,, and i put a red dot on it they shot good.
No jam, no fail, i shot i 250 round of blaser.
Very reliabe i am satisfiad they worth the money ;).

Vinnce.

Got mine a couple of days ago, shot it yesterday. All I had was some AE 40gr solids. 250 rds after a thorough cleaning. No problems whatsoever. Bushnell 4-12 for testing. 3/4-1" 5 shot @ 50yd groups were the norm. 2-3 shots in a tight group and a couple of fliers to open it to 3/4-1". I then mounted a chinese c-more type sight on it and blazed a few more mags, what a hoot. Now if they would only release the high cap mags for it. I want to get one of those angled front handles for it and some kind of off-shore light and laser and I'll have the coolest $300 rifle ever.

This is the closest looking .22 AR that's made that is non-restricted.

Sadly the quality isn't the greatest and that there isn't a high capacity mag available for it....

finally got around to picking up mine at the post office yesterday... the wait was getting to me so I promptly field stripped it minutes after getting in the front door. Well.... stupid me, i end up bending the recoil spring all to ratsh*t. Seriously bummed.

Called Mossberg today and... no problem! we'll just ship you a new spring gratis under warranty. Wow. And their customer service rocks, no push 1 push 2 push 3 push one. None of that, just ring ring Mossberg customer service, how may I help you? If only everyone operated like that.

Customer service is big for me too :)

This gun is kind of like one of those chicks you pick up at the bar at 2am. Its good from far, but far from good.

I think I will pay a little bit extra and get a 597vtr or go big or go home and get the sr22.
