What I did GSG 1911

Excuse my Noobyness

I've heard the stingers (on cgn, of course) can be pretty rough on the rubber part of the guide rod. Otherwise, very nice. The sights are likely the only thing I am going to change, but it's good to know you really can make the gun your own.

I'm a real beginner. Only shooting club-owned firearms (waiting for my late CRFSC results to complete my R-PAL) and have only been "shooting" for 2 months.

As a beginner I shoot whatever .22 LR ammo the club provides, and I notice that it's not always the same brand. My first semi-auto is, most likely, going to be a GSG 1911, thus my interest and my question. What are stingers and why are they different from non(?)stingers?

Stingers are hyper velocity .22 cartriges made by cci.
I believe they are supposed to fire a 29 gr bullet @ 1600 fps from a rifle.

OP, you have done a very nice job on your pistol, especially your grips. Are they Laminated? I am doing two sets for myself; one for my Tokarev and another for my 22/45. Will be using zebra wood. Will post when done.
Cheers!!

Well, I'm going to the US next weekend, and thought I could save a few bucks. I understand which rear sight to order, however...

Does anyone know what type of FO front sight would fit the GSG? I saw someone post on 1911 forum that it uses standard .330 x 65 X.075 dovetail base. Looking at Brownells, the only one I see is the Caspian 60N Fiber Optic Sight that has these dimensions. When I check MidwayUSA, the .330 x 65 X.075 are quoted for Kimber, Les Baer, and XS. But when I check Kimber sights by EGW on Brownells it shows .070 depth not .075.

Can someone who knows for sure please help? I need to order this ASAP so it arrives at my buddy's place by next weekend...

I got a set of Novak style XS Sight Big dots, and they fit, but goddam I had to take ALOT of metal off the bottom of the sight, and off the slide. Luckily it's just a 22 practice pistol, to me. I'd be pretty peeved to do that to a nice 45 auto.

See, that's the thing. For a 'standard' 1911 both front & rear dovetails must follow SOME sort of standard, be it Novak cut, STI, Kimber - whatever. While any sight may require some fitting, I don't want to file a lot of metal off. I'll ask BlueLine if they know...
