I haven't owned a 770, but did buy a 710 .30-06 just before they were stopped in production. (Camo model). I have also owned 700's, browning bars among other rifles. Now..the 710 (same as 770), could not, and will never compare to those class rifles, let alone the stevens, savage, etc.. I don't know if I'm the only one in the world to have lucked into a "decent" 710, But mine doesn't make me want to sell it.
It was and still is my back-up gun, or for bad weather hunting. The barrel is not even free-floated, yet it will always shoot 1/2" groups at 100 yards all day long!!! Yes, the bolt isn't the smoothest in the world, but mines not as bad as others claim..and it doesn't come out or actually bind up on me. The trigger isn't world class, but mine sure damn breaks like glass..lightest pull on any of my rifles!!! The factory installed scope was junk, but thats been replaced. It doesn't have any feeding issues whatsoever, although it don't "flick" the casings out, just kinda topples them over. It fits me very well, points and handles quite good. And I'm not being one bit sarcastic!!! my 710 is more accurate than any other rifle I've ever owned..And it's completely stock, besides the scope and rings..So..in my opinion..I lucked out

..Sorry to everyone else..but my rifle must have been built on a day when the workers got a bonus or something..
