Magpul Art Of The Dynamic Shotgun

I'm glad you've figured this out. Sadly the majority of those who bought their videos have not. You can't learn a technique by watching it, you need to get out and do it, more specifically take some professional training. Again, even if you observe and understand the technique you need to rationalize whether or not its a viable option for your intended shooting discipline and gear.

Really? you don't just inherit the skills from watching the video?
Cuz I was even thinking I could just shortcut the bastard and throw the DVD under my pillow for a few nights.. let it sink in, you know? :D

You mean osmosis isn't a viable training solution?;)

I might try that. Do you think it will work with ripped copies or do they have to be authentic originals?

Just watched this, and it's great.

Lot's of new techniques to start practicing.

And yes you can get better by just watching something happen. That plants the seed. Then it's repetition and practice to create muscle memory.

I like these guys videos because they point out the importance of actually understanding the firearms and their mechanics so you can be a more responsible shooter by having the skills to manipulate and use them properly. I like them also because they put the time into their products to make sure they work without issue so they give you an advantage. Why wouldnt I support or advocate this? You can have a hundred guns but if you dont know how to use them they are just part of a collection.

watched some of it.
id like to see more oldskool, less 'blinged out' tactical shotguns represented. by watching the video, it would be easy for impressionable shooters to draw the conclusion that your shotgun needs to look like this to be effective at all:

IMO they place way too much emphasis on accessories and optics. many of their drills are at relatively short range. you dont need optics to hit targets at 25-50 yards with a shotgun, nor do every single one of your 9 buckshot pellets need to strike within a 5" circle to neutralize a human being.

of course the video is made by magpul, and their goal is to sell their products, so you cant really blame them.

Regardless of the range, optics take the guess work out it. Target aquisition with a red dot is undeniably faster than irons. I love the irons on my AR but shooting my buddies AR with a red dot and a magnifier is almost cheating.

i agree with you to a degree..

red dot sights are incredibly easy to use, and i prefer them over ghost rings. so in that respect they win on a gun where slugs will be commonplace, and i guess the ghostys are there as backup

however, when it comes to a bead or a reddot, ill take the bead and save the weight and profile on my shotgun

Overall I thought it was well done and some good information.
I did notice that some of the students had terrible trigger finger control ...lots of 'finger on the trigger' reloads
