Norinco cq a 5.56

I just got one and I am impressed with the quality for this price. I love it. the safety is a little hard to move but it will get better with time.

does anyone know how to install the coupler on the two 10 round mags to connect them together???

That's an easy fix, mine was like that after i changed the grip. Remove the selector and realized the ridges were not smooth, 1 minute with the dremel and the selector is nice and smooth.

I've yet to see a Norinco AR in person. I recently bought a used Colt for $904 (taxes included) at a local shop and it's in great shape....at that price it's pretty tough to justify $675+tax on a knockoff but that's just my opinion.

I guess it depends what features you want too, right? Personally, I prefer the old-school look of the long-barrel, fixed stock AR's so even if I did buy a Norinco, I'd have to spend more money to turn it into what I wanted anyway. Seemed more logical for me to buy the used Colt.

What about the front hand guard. Do the 6.5 " ones fit ? I want to change the original ones with the ones with picatinny rails . I've also heard that you can easily change the whole upper on this?

Well , I brought the m4 to the range and here how it went:
After 40 rounds , the bolt catcher wasn't ... Catching anymore the bolt.
The reat takedown pin was sliding out !
Opened it up and notice that there was an excessive wear on the bottom part o the bolt , same side as the bolt catcher ....
I'm not that impressed anymore... I'll call John at Marstar monday. Figure I'll return it and that's it.

lets see some pics because i think you full of sh!t (i said it) I have yet to here of the rear take down pin problem and the bolt showing excessive wear after 40 rounds is laughable. You may be the first to have these problems because I own one along with an incredible growing number of people that have yet to encounter an issue relating to yours:) show me some pics or even have John comment on your issues, if not its highly likely there fabricated.

Who the hell do you think you are Fluxcore ???
Better grab yourself a bar of soap and wash your mouth with it !

I posted this because I want to know if there is anyone else that had the similiar problem and also to provide some input on my experience.

Having said this,

it seems that I don't have user permission to post attachements. I do have some pictures. For thoses interested, please contact me so that I can send you the pics and maybe get some feedback here.

In a nutshell, i received the m4 on Tuesday. Went to the range at CRAFM and bought 3 boxes of 20 rounds each in order to test the M4 and zero it.
After my 2d box I noticed that the bolt catch wasnt holding back the bolt after my last cartridge. Even tried to manually use the bolt catch and it wouldnt work. Contineud a bit shootin through my 3d box until I noticed that the rear takedown pin had slide out halfway.

I'm opened to constructive feedback guys, not a load of crap like this fluxcore gave me...

AS for the wear on the bolt, I'm hoping that somebody can tell me if it is normal or not by looking at my pics. Either way, the problem may be only with the bolt catch. As for the takedown pin, there is a bit of loose there. Any way to get rid of it ?

Do some searching here. The last round bolt catch can be fixed by turning out the buffer tube one turn and is widely known.

Take the upper off, insert an empty mag, see if the follower is lifting the bolt catch. I'm betting your issues are mag related on that one. While you're at it with the upper off give the bolt catch a good wiggle, make sure it moves freely, if not, clean it. Finally, when running an AR the BCG, hell pretty much everything on the gun (EXCEPT the buffer) should be damp with lubricant - if you try to run an AR dry, you'll have all kinds of issues. If you look through the e-port and the BCG doesn't look and feel damp, you're short some lube. The rear take down pin is held in place by a detent and a spring - the spring forces the detent into into a grove that ends in a little divott - could be that your pin needs a clean up with a small file. Finally, tell me you weren't using Winchester 40 grain White Box varmint ammunition - there's so much wrong with that ammo in an AR I don't know where to start.

Even when trying manually to get the bolt catch to work, it doesnt.
No, the BCG was well lubbed.
As for ammo I was using factory loads which were not winchester

Thanks I'll try it. Although it was working perfectly fine before.
Rember I only shot 40 rounds of ammo , not 400 ! It isn't dirty, it's still brand new ! Out of the box !

One of the 'problems' with the Norcs is that they can be really dirty (with grit and dust from the factory) when they are brand new. If you can't 'wiggle' the bolt stop up and down, there's probably something jamming it, it could be dirt, sand (factory sand) or a small sliver of brass - which happens.
