Do Eskimos shoot IPSC?

Politically correct... There's apparently only one ### Eskimo...

Inuvik has the Eskimo Inn and Eskimo Bed and Breakfast. Eskimo is used widely in Alaska. I have many Inuk friends who use the word interchangeably with Inuit and Inuk. Sure it’s not pc gets but no one too excited over it, and I don’t use it. Note that the word is said to be a bastardization of the French Esquimaux,

Daedra83 - With regard to gun control up there- sorry but a load of hooey!!! I'm sure that where ever you were that might have been the case but I've been all over the Delta, and the Western / Central Arctic Galapagos and this is most definitely not the case. No one goes anywhere out on the land without their firearms and no one signs them out from the RCs. Firearms are owned and kept by the owners though a fair percentage may not have a PAL.

As a matter of fact our wonderful government moved indigenous people all over the North and gave then a nice 303 service rifle and said good luck. You can still see some of this in use and in the owner’s house!!

Having talked with a few natives myself (who call themselves Indian by the way), I inquired about the Eskimo/Inuit debate. It would seem they are pretty interchangeable and freely used. As mentioned, it's all about context. Inuit can be used in a demeaning derogatory way as well.

As with all these PC things.. it's just the flavour of the week. I'd be willing to bet that in 20 years Inuit will be considered derogatory and it will be replaced by some other PC word... and the cycle will continue.

Im curious... are the people complaining about the issue in this thread Inuit themselves? If not, stop your whining.

As for IPSC in the far north... I hope it gets started! The more shooters the better.

IPSC use to be shoot in Hay River, Yellowknife and Inuvik in the 90's. unfortunately a few people moved, a few died and bam it is no more. there are a couple of people trying to get it going in Yellowknife but i don't think they are having much success unfortunately.
