poacher, what to do?

You all are a bunch of nerds, dude was hunting out of season, plain and simple, did I bother him during season? No! Good for him if season is open, but he was stupid and abused his right to hunt.

If it was so black & white, 'plain & simple' then there was absolutely no need for a thread to inquire about 'what to do?',,,,,,,,, was there?:bangHead: JUST DO IT!

I think this about sums up the thread.

never read all pages so forgive me if its been brought up. what if he is photographing wildlife. sometimes i call in deer after the season the take pics of whats survived or to get cool shots of deer up close. just saying.

I gotta say this thread makes me sick. We have an OP who believes that poaching may be taking place and has some evidence to support his suspicions. Instead of supporting him doing the right thing, most of the posters here seem to support turning a blind eye to this. Sure the guy could be taking pictures or shooting yotes but the evidence points to hunting deer out of season. As hunters, we need to be conservationists too. Every year I see more idiots afield, trespassing, poaching and breaking other laws. If we don't police our own no one else will.

Sorry Bro, gonna have to disagree with you on this one...he has never actually seen the guy "hunting"...he could be calling in yotes, or seeing what deer are still in the area...he doesn't know.

It would be like your neighbour calling the cops on you because he saw you carrying a rifle to your car...it could be illegal, or not registered...you neighbour should just call the cops every time just in case.

No one is saying turn a blind eye, they are saying that someone blowing a few deer calls is not evidence of poaching.

Nobody condones poaching, but most of us condone whistle blowers that hang, draw & quarter someone without visual verification. The sequence & presentation of the facts was 'sick' indeed & 'seemed' to be added/piled on to help sway the general consensus & popular opinion:

Poacher, What to do? : Heard a hunter calling in deer today on the wooded property behind my house, I suspect its the owner or his buddy, season closed 18 days ago! Should I call on this poacher? How far would a bow hunter have to hunt from my house to be legal? There are a lot of houses backing onto this wooded area. Thanks

Read all the post! I saw him in a stand with a bow with a salt lick nearby and heard him calling deer. Not enought proof for you?

So have you approached this individual or called Fish & Wildlife yet? Or are you just going to continue whining on the internet?

The time is yours crusader! Go on and uncover the mystery...

Thats it?

I gotta say this thread makes me sick.

Thats easily avoided by not reading, or posting in it.

No Blind eye at all!
The original poster asked for advice. It was given to him....His mind was already made up before he posted. What he wanted was mob of angry villagers with torches and pitchforks to back him up on his witch hunt.

FACT IS.
He still does not know the truth ,because he didn't man up and ask the guy ...What he has is wild assumptions, and vague second hand info from the land owner(so he says).
When you post in an internet forum, you might want to have your facts straight. If not you might want broad shoulders. You will be criticized either way.

Get your mommy to help you, lol!

Should have gotten your mommy to hold your hand so you could have asked the fella in question, what was up......Bet she has more common sense.

NO!!! Because you didn't ask him........You yourself said he was a little slow....God knows what he was hunting.....Could have been idiots....I heard he had one comming in.. Thats just internet talk though.

A deer hanging from a tree would be enough proof for me.

A salt lick attracts deer. During the hunting season deer would be shot there. Chances are good several gut piles we're left for the coyotes. Coyotes will probably return to that area if they hear a deer call, thinking there will be more gut piles. (Tip: Coyotes can't read the hunting regs to know when seasons end) If I wanted to shoot dogs, that's exactly what I would be doing. Our conservation officers are stretched out enough and have plenty of real poachers and other issues to contend with. Do not waste anyones time any longer. If some doo-gooder asshat bothered me everytime I was seen carrying a gun with no open season I'd be really pissed off. (Tip: It's not against the law to own or use a gun or bow)

Now, dude, :)rolleyes:) let the grown ups discuss things for awhile.
