just watch what you say and how you say it and you will be fine, once you get to 800 posts you will be slightly more respected and know what to and what not to do.
its a good site for discussions and finding out what is new out there, as well as a place where everyone hates liberals and canadian firearm laws as much as I do... ah I love it here.
Post count, doesn't count for a lot. Some guys should know (you'd think), then you realize it's just wind and the guy started shooting 6 mo. ago. I started nearly 25 yrs. ago when I was pretty young. Oh I was on and off, and in some respects I'm new to certain aspects of the shooting game.
There's a lot of old guys out there who are going to triple our combined knowledge. Not that we'd get the chance to discuss that with them, they're perhaps not computer guys and maybe, just maybe their spelling, grammar or English isn't high on their skill set.
I was having a discussion with a fellow (big post count expert) who was telling me that I had no knowledge of how certain quite old devices worked, even though in some places it is pretty common and physics works the same everywhere. I didn't want to correct him when he wondered why the gov. "allows" subsonic .22 ammunition. Anyone that's been around shooting a while knows it's because it's a little more accurate for target (no trans-sonic shock). Pretty basic stuff. Big expert. Same guy and others share numerous gems. Just last week some guy was talking about "modern" rounds like 30-06 and variations of it. I guess if 105 yrs. old is modern. Maybe a few years older if you count it's 1st version 30-03. (not 30-30 or .303) I didn't take note of his post count, but it was getting up there.
I suppose that's why quite a few guys don't post. Quite often I see stuff like 8 posts, 231 trader rating. I wonder if they've been in the game a while? I think perhaps CarverK has been shooting a while also. It's a shame we have to chase off guys with experience, (2 yrs. doesn't count) because a few people have problems with his spelling. So much for our non-elitest outdoors "brotherhood".
If I thought I needed 800 posts to be as respected as the 18 yr. old who got his F.A.C. (or P.A.L. rather) last year I would have picked a different forum myself. Does a community good to keep everyone out I guess. If only I had listened to the mouthpiece in the back of class all those years; imagine the breadth of what my knowledge could have been!
