I dont see the point...if it can be done legally (which I don't think it can) it would cost more than purchasing locally...

Watch for some of the U.S. prices, a lot of time there within a buck or two a box of our prices. Even in the states the shipping costs are extremely high, an to add, that not all couriers will even touch ammo. Canadian store sells a box of 50 rounds of 45ACP here for 35.00
US store sells a box of 50 rounds of 45ACP for 15.00
all else aside - 5000 rounds we can bring into Canada, this we know
so 5000 rounds in Canada cost's us 3500.00
but in the US for 5000 rounds it costs 1500.00
hmmm I see a difference
I am not talking reloads, but factory made ammo

thanks for the input everyone,but i would like to know a name of a dealer/dealers in the States that has shipped ammo here and does so regularly to individuals. i have the time and money,plus prices are far more agreeable down there. since we cant get much surplus 3006 here i will shop down south.
A number of folks here have reported buying guns from Buffalo Gun Center, in Buffalo NY.
As exporters , perhpas they would handle ammunition.
You are going to have to get the ammunition to a licenced exporter. Supply the licenced exporter with your IIC from DFAIT, so they can get the export permit. Arrange for shipping. No idea which carrier will do cross border shipments of ammunition.

People at my club just go to walmart and bring it over themselves. From what buddy told me, they don't even ask for so much as a drivers license.
If upon your return to Canada the DHS border patrol has a flash inspection set up, you are risking jail time or an outright ban from the states.
I have been writing very polite letters to the president, our prime minister, secretaries of state,DHS,to the head of the DDTC asking for a change in the laws, as well as pointing out that under the current system, it is not making any of us safer.
If Canadians with pals can buy ammo without showing id, then US and CDN gang bangers can do the same thing. It is currently easier for a Cdn gang banger to buy ammo in the states than in Canada.
This could all change if the first step in our security started at the retail level ensuring that ammo would only be sold to those law abiding citizens on both sides of the border simply by viewing a firearms license.

9mm is $200 for 1000 rnds at walmart. I drool over this forbidden fruit every two weeks when I go do groceries there.
Maybe I will write a letter to Walmart asking them to expand their ammo sales into their Cdn stores. Maybe we all should.

RHate to break it to ya bud, but youre asking the equivalent of 'has anyone ever bought a hand gun from Alonzo's basement north of Jane and Finch?' This is why no one is biting on the question.
Yes, its possible, yes people have brought ammo back in thier vehicles and reveled in the fact that they beat the system, and yes, if you get caught by the Feds south of the border trying to export ammo without the paperwork from the DoS, you will be in a world full of regret.
The reason that more people do not do the paperwork and cough up the $250 application fee to DoS is because it does not make sense economically unless you are importing enought quantity to outfit a small geurilla army, or stock shelves in a retail location. The market for this stuff is big enough that if importing was a viable 'good idea', we'd be all over it. The average joe around here isn't as clueless as you expect.
