I think it was 1968 when they started using serial numbers. Also, after 1961 it was the Winchester era.

I ordered another sticker from the CFO yesterday. The one on top of the receiver is as good as gone.Ask for another sticker and put it where ever you wish.
Thanks for clearing that up for me, I've heard different stories from different people and I wasn't sure about it. Did the all the Winchester era guns have serial numbers?

No--I had a Cooey/Winchester model 39 that I gave my brother and it had no serial number. I also have a Cooey/Winchester marked model 600 that has no serial number.
...I don't know if I'll ever sell it considering what these actually go for these days![]()
