Cooey M60 - what a find (w/pictures)!

So that's what they looked like originally! Almost every one I've seen has had the bluing very faded and/or worn.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, I've heard different stories from different people and I wasn't sure about it. Did the all the Winchester era guns have serial numbers?

....don't mean to hijack!

No--I had a Cooey/Winchester model 39 that I gave my brother and it had no serial number. I also have a Cooey/Winchester marked model 600 that has no serial number.

I believe the chronology is as follows: Cooey rifles were sold with Winchester markings starting in 1961. Serial numbers first appeared around 1967.

Very fine looking '60. I've had mine since 1986 and it was in nowhere near that shape when I bought it. Mine is also sans serial number. Not sure I would shoot such a fine specimen, but if you do you will come to admire the utter simplicity and reliability of the '60.

Got the Weaver side mount with matching rings for her today. And the simplest, smallest decent 1" scope to go with them.
This rifle is turning into a fine little "sniper" on a budget...
Pictures can be seen here.
