Husqvarna Sporting Rifles #### - ALL MODELS!!!

Noel, i understand! but luckily the guys are always exceptionally helpful on this site if any input is needed! learned alot here, and continuing to do so.

Buster, sand it first with a fine grade paper, clean with varsol or mineral spirits, prime with an oil based exterior metal primer, 2 coats black oil based exterior enamel, light sanding in between coats. ps, dont put it on heavy, an extra coat is nothing, but sanding too much paint down takes more time.

Just wondering if anyone can give me some info on a rifle I have the chance to purchase. It is a Husky model 9000 in .270 win. Any and all info I can get on this model would be great. Also if anyone knows a ball park price on what it would be worth in good to excellent condition. Thanks guys, I appreciate all your replys.

Any info on that old clunker is appreciated as well.....serial#3045**, the pics should tell the rest.
Also looking for a rear sight and elevator for it if anybody knows where I can find one.

The ugly one, the one you must urge to send me for immediate destruction, is a model 458-10 "Lightweight Full-Stock", or 1600 helstock and was made in 1965, so likely imported by Ruko (but it could have come from the USa, too..). Very desirable configuration / caliber. As a sidenote, the Monte-Carlo stocked ones were for export and are not found in Sweden (they prefered the straight comb models).
The current value is between 550.00 $ to whatever one wants to pay for it. Since there is a lot of speculation on this model, the top value can't be easily determined.

The other one should be stamped FFV-HVA (that's what I needed - the stamping on the left side of the receiver). From the the round fore end nose and S/N it's a post HVA factory and this model is called "Grade II" or, "Special" but Ruko continued to use the older designation M/9000. It was manufactured about 1973-74.
As for value, they usually go from 650.00 $ to about 800/850.00 $, depending on condition, caliber, model, demand...

Thank you for the info Baribal, you seem to be a book of knowledge on these rifles. The second one "not the ugly one" is stamped FFV HUSQVARNA SWEDEN, is this the same as FFV HVA?
Do you have any idea where a guy might locate a rear sight and elevator for the ugly one?
Thanks again, PH!!

I'm far from being as good as you might think, but it pleases me to help when I can. Some 20++ years of researching and collecting these rifles might help, though.
Anyways, the large supply of HVA sproting rifles availlable now forced us, collectors, to search a bit harder to find out, since there's a real lack of current infos for these products.

As for the stamping, yes, that's what I was looking for, HVA stands for "Husqvarna Vapenfabriks Aktiebolag".

Now regarding the sights, it's more complicated; These items are really uncommon loose and they are not marked as being HVA products (nothing identifies it as is). So, unl,ess you look for a certain shape, it's very hard to come by. Some people may be offering it on auction sites, but I know any for now.
You can go to gunshows and gunsmiths and look at what they have. People usually swap Marbles or Lyman type sights on these. A folding leaf(s) sight may also be fitted so it clears to scope (some 1640/1600 models had this type of sight) - Look at NECG site for some ideas.

Here's what the original sight looked like;

You are correct, but tit does not help identifying it as a HVA product.
Usually 30-06, 308, 8X57 have a #1 elevator.

Thanks guys, any idea what number of elevator would fit my .243 then?

It doesn't really matter since you don't know how it was calibrated at the factory (wich bullet weight they used...). Then, the possibilities to find the correct original one are close to none.
My suggestion is to check out E-Bay and Gunshows... anything you may think of. You can also buy a new manufactured one... wich would be a much easier (and faster) task.

For your info, the barrel have a 4 grooves, 1:10" twist.

While it's very interesting, as I own several Sporting Ross, I think you hit the wrong forum... This should have been in the EE (sales-Exchange forum)...

my HVA arrived.

can I post some pics to help get it identified?

from what I can gather so far,

it is a 1946

model 640 9.3x62 (or could it be a 649?)
serial # 90###
looks like a 600mm barrel

but I'd like this confirmed.

TIA!
