I have a matchbox full of bullets that look pretty much the same as those pics.
I spent a lot of time as a kid in the '50s, digging bullets out of dead moose.
But those came from my Dads .38-55. Most of those moose only went a pace or two as well, and I never saw one get away. I also saw a lot of two-shot doubles on cows & calves - most times, they fell within spitting distance of each other.
The difference seems to be that we'd spend an extra half hour sneaking up close. Funny how that works.
Now we need designer bullets and young cannons so we can snipe from 400 yards out the window of the Hummer, and camouflage is bought in a store and worn to the mall....
