Excellant Matt74!! I have the same, although in rougher condition.

For the rifle, caliber and 'accessories', it's good to see someone else is as 'hooked' as I am.

Jeez Matt, what a find ! I went out behind the house and put 2 through the new 71 after work, nice to hear the thunder fill the valley. Now all you 71 fans keep your eyes peeled for a Steel Winchester Butt plate, Pistol grip cap and an elusive bolt peep for me please. The only clue this gun was a Deluxe is swivel stud hole in the forend cap. I guess since this guns been reworked I have licence to restore as I see fit :D

Thanks John. Yup, I am addicted as well to the 71 as well as the accessories.

As for a steel buttplate, there is one in Ebay:

I do have an extra bolt peep, but it is "as new" and in my small sight collection. Also see them on Fleabay from time to time, but not cheap on there. I can keep my eyes open for one though. What condition are you looking for to match the gun??

Matt

The recoil pad on mine is original. The bolt mounted peep sounds interesting though. Are you selling, and if so, how much??

No, sorry. Can't part with the bolt peep. Like I said though I can keep my eyes open. I do see them from time to time at the Syracuse show I go to. Pretty hard to find them up here.
Matt

I can't remember, does the original buttplate have the Winchester logo on it ? Macon gunstocks in MO are selling recast copies but don't have a pic on their site. Matt, since the gun has been reblued any condition of peep would be alright thx.

No, the original buttplate does not have the Winchester logo on it. You can find original on Fleabay too.

Sorry Johnn, but that was the best looking box of 348 Winchester Silvertip 250 grain bullets that I could find for you at the gunshow a year ago.

:)Not a problem Bruce. Love it and will keep it for photos and not shoot any of the cartridges:D. Better than anything I've found and the 'icing on the cake' is the price written on the box:cool:. Definately a 'keeper' and let me know if you come across others. I'm interested.

Yes Johnn, that written on price sure caught my eye. I thought it a real classic, probably dating back to the 1930s.
It also indicates that some little "Country corner store," had them. Winchester ammunition back then was always more than Dominion, so I don't think a country store would sell them for $3.35, after WW2.

Kinda' reminiscent of what I paid for Dominion 303Br. when I started hunting in the interior, late late 50's or begining 60's. Then inflation hit when I got my Parker Hale 308 NM, $8.10!! ;)Quite a shock. Had to deliver a lot of papers for that.:p
