Used batteries and stack of pennies as shotgun slugs ?

dunno. . .

Hi,

What do you think of the idea of using used batteries as shotgun slugs ? I looked up diameters online and it seems AAA batteries are good fit for .410, and AA batteries are good fit for 20 or 24 gauge.

And what if you glue a stack of pennies together ? It should fit in 10 gauge barrrels. A stack of 10 pennies should give you a 360 grain slug, and if you file the diameter down by 0.6 mm it should fit in 12 gauge barrels. You have to glue them together, otherwise they'll start to fly apart as soon as they exit the barrel.

You have to reload your shotshells of course. Anyone want to try this ? I'd like to know the terminal ballistics of such slugs, and how many pennies you can recover in spendable shape from a dead deer.

Update:
It has been mentioned that batteries may crumble under pressure and block the barrel. See http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3958545&postcount=7

I found out that Canadian Currency Act outlaws using Canadian coins for any purpose other than as currency, but we can just use foreign coins. See http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showpost.php?p=4018466&postcount=162
the batteries would probably contaminate the meat aroud the woundwith the acid and leadoxides.I HAVE USED A GLASS MARBLE, BUT YOU HAVE TO REALLY MAKE SURE THE SHOTCUP WITH THE MARBLE IN IT WILL MAKE IT OUT OF YOUR BARREL, MY BARRELS HAVE NO CHOKE.

30 pages... wow...

I don't think a battery weighs as much as a proper slug; just because it's the same diameter doesn't mean it can/should be used.

I also think a battery would break up into many pieces lessening any kind of desired penetration wheras a real slug would maintain it's weight and penetrate deep.

The penny idea is silly as they'd all separate soon after leaving the barrel (again no penetration).

Of course in a post-apocolyptic zombie scenario anything coming out the muzzle of a shotgun within arms reach could be lethal.

The closest to a werewolf defense but that's a copper top not silver.

Vamp's - don't know.

What would be the ballistics of an energizer if they keep going and going?

silver dimes will be effective in the event you are rushed by a werewolf;

for zombies, batteries are useful, plus... if you use fully charged batteries you get the added benefit of bringing the dead back to life (like this thread);

for vampires, i think you're probably screwed. vampires are pretty tough.

This has been a hilarious read, thanks all!!!! :sucks::D:D:D:sucks:
