Ok here it comes! I am tired of hearing all those horror stories about XCRs falling apart all the time.

Obviously there are cases where things break (including mine) but what needs to be determine is:

- what breaks

- how often does it breaks

If that is known, one can either get/make better parts or replace them before they break or carry spares. Whichever suits best.

We are not talking "screw came lose" here. Everybody can fix that with loctite. We are talking "Something broke".

Most issues I have heard of are related to the trigger. If that's the case then that is nothing a few laser cut or CNC machined hardened steel parts couldn't fix...
If there is enough demand I could even think about making a small series of those parts (assuming that copyright and liability issues can be sorted out).

So please lets hear about cases where your rifle broke or where you directly witnessed it and knew exactly what broke. Links to internet posts will do to. But not the story about the guy whose XCR kept breaking in a competition. For all I know that could be 20 stories of the same guy. NO HEARSAY.

Lets see what we get.

Ok, I go first:

- Model: XCR-L . Tool less gas system

- Caliber: .223

- Trigger: Old Style

- Round count at break: ~500

- Issue: Disconnector broke

- How many FTF/FTE: 0%

Mine sucked.

I'd never buy another.

Trigger broke right away (within 40 rounds). Robson Arms replaced it free of charge (great service). The gun still didn't work. I sent it back to Wolverine (Where I bought it from).

They sent it back to me saying they fixed an issue with the bolt? It still didn't work. I contacted Wolverine about it and heard nothing back. I was ignored.

Then the trigger broke again.

If you are set on a 223, stick to AR's or save up for a Swiss.

I've got one in 7.62 x 39
When i got it the gas port in the barrel was not to spec... it was bored too small.
Had the local gunsmith bored it out to within spec based on info from RA.

Now approx 1000+ rounds with no failiures of anykind, no screws coming loose, and nothing broken.
I love this rifle... it's made my never sell list.

And i can't believe the accuracy i get out of it with crappy Czech surplus

I must say my XCR was VERY accurate, when it when *BANG*, which was almost never.

First hand, I have seen:

- bolt release bolt come loose
- ejector come loose
- barrel some loose
- gas come loose
- primer pierce on about 1 in 3 rounds.
- wandering point of aim, point of impact.

All of these is probably fixable via weld/drill/loctite solutions, or something you can maintain through, but why?

Mine has about ~1000 range without anything breaking or being replaced. 2 or 3 FTE's during break-in and 1 after. It's a great rifle.

I have to think you have the newer version. I wish I would have waited. When I think XCR I feel sick to my stomach. I'm glad it's working for you.

My experience with the platform was hell. When's the last time the factory suggested you remove the bolts on an AR-15 and Loc-tite them?

i read a pile of reviews before i bought mine... the impression i got was that it was kind of a crap shoot. Either you end up with a lemon, or it works great. I think that's why there's a large number of people on both sides either loving it or hating it. I kept my fingers crossed when i bought it , had a very frustrating first 500 rounds, thought i had a lemon. Got it fixed and now i love it.... but i can see why some people hate these based on bad first experiences. Maybe people should just look for good used ones with a proven track record :)

Like I said earlier, I think the early versions had the problems. Mine was one of the first into Canada.

I'm glad yours works for you.

Couple thousand rounds in both .223 an 7.62. No problems at all. I've had two Colt AR's and a Stag that were not near as reliable.

Are you sure about that?

Really?

Of course I'm sure. I don't have shares in robinson arms or have any brand loyalty. I don't care if people here don't like the gun I choose to use. I'm not saying AR's suck, I love them but the ones I've owned have not been as reliable as my XCR. Thats all.

Seems like smak_daddy is determined to derail every XCR thread with stories about his

old XCR problems.

What relevance this has to current XCR production is a mystery.

Nothing. I actually agree with you 100%. Read my past posts again carefully.

I am saying I had an old XCR. It was a diaster. If you read my comments you'll see agree the new ones a great based on users comments. I am happy for every XCR user who has a great experience.

My daily shooter is an AR with well over 10k rounds through it. Its never jammed

It'll break before it jams.

Very little has changed in the XCR design. They MAY QA their bolts a little better, which reduces the "oh, we forgot to loctite", and "oh, we drilled the firing pin/gas hole to big/small" type responses from Alex/Tara, but ultimately, there are some design issues with the rifle that have never been sorted out.

By getting a Benelli mr-1 i made the right choice by readind a big part of those treads, i almost choose it but now would not give back the mr-1.... JP.
