Shorten PAL Approval Times

Pretty much the standard stuff they asked on the form.

why do you want your rpal ?
a lot of questions about if you have criminal record or peace bond etc... against you.
if you are depressed and if you thought about suicide

pretty basic stuff. lasted maybe 2 min.

Those were the exact same questions that I was asked.

can you confirm if (613) 825-0297 was the fax number you sent your test results to?

I called the RCMP to check to make sure that they received my fax yesterday. Once it was confirmed that they received my fax they transferred for my interview. I then called my references and gave them the information for them to call in.

My timelines are as follows:

May 8: - Passed both courses
May 11: - Mail application to RCMP
May 16: - Application received
May 19: - Called RCMP to confirm application receipt
June 2: - Posted on RCMP web site and my VISA was charged $80.00
June 13: - Received a letter from RCMP requesting my stamped test results
June 22: - Called Ontario CFO for test results status - stuck in mail due to CP strike
July 4: - Received test results in mail and faxed them to RCMP
July 5: - Called RCMP and was transferred for my interview - called references and asked them to call in for their interviews

Interestingly the RCMP do not want to interview my spouse.

Hey 2bad4U. My timeline is almost exactly the same as you. Took test on the same day as you. Test results also go stuck and just received yesterday, faxed and did my interview today. Now sending information to my references.

I took both courses at York Regional Firearms Academy (Sat. & Sun.).

If you did the same, I sat at the first table by the door entrance, on the very right had side of the table.

This is the fax number that I used.

Does the CFC web site status show approved and/or the card has been mailed out?

Bravo ;)

And no... it will say "Your application has been processed and your license has been issued. If you have not received your license within 2 weeks please contact the Canadian Firearms Center Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

It does not actually say what date it is mailed and last time I checked they only print them once a week regardless of what date it is "approved".

I just checked my email. One of my references wrote "I just spoke with them. Questions are insane - but I think that you're good to go!"

Fortunately I warned her about the ridiculous questions others here have been asked (ie. wanting to assassinate children in the school yard), so she shouldn't have been too surprised. I'll check with her later today and see what was asked and report back.

It should be interesting to see what they asked her and how she responded. Typically she is not one to bite her tongue if asked stupid questions.

Thanks Shalimar.

Indeed.. reminds me of my brother in laws "interview"... only in his case his response to the stupid questions caught them off guard. After only 2 questions the "interview" with him was over and I was snickering since I was in the same room. (Handed him the phone right after doing my own interview).

Hi

Yup I took it there too. Was in the same class as you. I was the asian guy sat on the 2nd row, right side of the class in the left seat. i was probably in the same practical group as you.

To which the proper response would be, "No. He doesn't assassinate children in the school yard.
It's a GUN-FREE ZONE, duh!.
He assassinates them in their backyards (if single family shootings) or in the playgrounds (for mass assassinations.)."
