45 acp enfields

two questions, is that a colchester 2500 lathe?
what is the rate of twist in your 45 barrels?

No :D and 16 :)

Can anyone tell me the pitch and size of the sight protector screw for those No4 enfield sights and more importantly where I can get a couple??

Front sight protector screw size is "4BA". If you have British dies you can make them or plead with somebody on EE to sell you a few.

I was thinking a 45 long colt would be a good round for this rifle, rimmed and close to the 303 rim or is the main interest the magazine ? I wonder how the 45 long colt would feed through a standard Enfield action ? I see the 45 long colt out range the 45 acp. by far.

I just came across this thread (where have I been???) and yes, a .45 LC would be neat although you wouldn't be able to use a .45 ACP mag. I wonder if the original L-E mag could be adapted... Hmmm......

One thing that occured to me - and of course this is LONG after the original post - was that it would be nice to have the mag. adaptor flush with the stock, so it looks like the .45 magazine was originally part of the gun, rather than adapted via the factory-style mag; sort of a Lee-Enfield/Destroyer Carbine.

So I reported the changes to my No4 over a month ago. I received a letter today asking for more information. Once I got through the snotty lady at the CFP and got transferred to the right dept it took aproximatly 30 seconds to give them the info. Lots of time wasted for something that took so little time to do.

We will see where it goes from here. Has anyone else who built one of these had their certs amended yet?

My .45 Enfield is compete now that I have 2 new Chip Mc Cormick stainless
mags for it. The beasty shoots fine with 200gr. LSWC slugs and has already
proven deadly on grey squirrels at 50 yds. or so. I can't wait to use it on feral cats and raccoons!
This was a fun gun to build and a joy to shoot. Anyone building up one of these should definitely install a Huber Concepts trigger.
They are the cat's ass for improving accuracy and are super smooth.
