Notice to S&W M&P 15-22 Rifle Owners

If you want to complain that recording the detailed technical description of a firearm is illegal, have at it.

That's my point to them - it's not a firearm or a characteristic of a firearm, it's an accessory. Everyone seems to agree on that point, otherwise their definition of prohibited device wouldn't work.

has anyone brought up the point to S&W that if they just marked the 25/30 round mags "For MP15-22 Rifle" that we would have no problem with any of this?

CFO rep said I can take them to any gun store for verification, doesnt have to be an official verifier. I realized North Sylva was in TO so I stopped by and they were nice enough to verify it for me.

Here they are making me wait for the actual verifier, who just happens to be out of town until sometime next week.

Gunco in Ottawa I got mine "verified" . When I explained the CFO wanted to confirm the Mag limit of 10 he looked at me like I was crazy LOL . I cant believe we had to do this in the first place. I very simple invoice was given to me and Ill fax that in tomorrow and see what they say...(Can't Wait :/ )

I sent my mag to North Sylva and ordered a couple more. 10 day total turnaround is very good in my opinion, and they handle informing the CFO.

When I got the phone call from the RCMP in Ottawa stating that my plastic inserts were not acceptable, he stated I could pin the mag but it had to be permanent and confirmed by a veriifer.

...and finding a verifier was a pain in the butt...ended up taking all day and lots of driving.

just out of curiosity, what are the chances that someone will buy our used rifles, if we posted them on the exchange forum? and selling at what price?

what's the motivation to buy a new one?

i'm considering giving mine up..but it still makes me smile everytime i go to the range.

For the most part I wouldn't expect too much depreciation. Most used Canada 15-22 sell close to their original price on firearms Canada. Asides from the whole magazine fiasco it’s a really well made, reliable and fun little rifle. I'm holding onto mine with the hope that someone (not s&w) might make 20 or 25 or 30 round magazines that will be legal. There is enough hoopla over this 10 round magazine issue for some ambitious manufacturer to cash in on it? If the Ruger bx-25 mags are legal maybe s&w can make a 20 or 30 mag. I would be happy with a 20, 50 round drum mags just are too expensive for what you get.

ummmm......

Black Dog makes 26 and 50 rnd mags for the 15-22.......

Check out questar's link in the banner at the top of the page.

As far as depreciation goes.......

They are currently (NIB at retailers) selling for about $60 less than they did when they first hit the market. I saw one on the shelf with all of the magpul goddies and a FH for under $550 a few weeks ago. Personally I wouldn't buy a used one if it was more than 80% of what a new one is worth......

.....If the Ruger bx-25 mags are legal.....

Ruger advertises the BX-25 magazine for the 10/22 rifle and the Charger pistol.
There are some states that have magazine restrictions. The Cdn. market alone is probably too small, but combined with a US domestic market, there is always the possibility that a mfr. might be interested.
