Kel Tec SU16F review

Has anyone come up with a quick release pin to replace the pin that holds from folding? I thought a slightly longer pin with a ring in it would be useful. have to wait till the new year to get mine.

Colin, I ordered one of those takedown pins that a guy made in the states. I looked at two hardware stores and no one knew what I was talking about so I just ponied up and ordered one for $18. Look up 'su16 take down pins' in google and you'll find it.

Satain, I made it to the pumpkin shoot but didn't see any other Su16 shooters there. Did you reveal your big mystery add on? What was it for those of us who didn't see you there?

I went to Brafasco with the original pin and they hooked me up with a hitch pin. $5 fix (any fastener company would have it).

No one warned me what kind of ##### it was to install the compact foreend. No tolerances whatsoever. Squeezing the foreend with the springs and the retainer ring at the very end took me an hour of trying. I feel like gluing it all to make sure it never comes off.

Oh ya thats a SEI flash hidder baby. I told ya that I had another Ah Ha moment.
Hey Vault contact Joe for me and get the next shipment in like this please :p
Oh ya here is a close up of my AR15 extended magazine release mod that you guys were asking for.

Here is my standing shooting at Poco in -2 & snowing weather while using my Insight MRDS witch has a 3.5 MOA red dot.

15 shots in total the first 5 were sighters with my factory mag and I had 1 FTF and 1 round was jammed in the mag so it would not even strip off and go into the chamber. The other 10 were from my LAR15 mag and it worked flawlessly and in resualt you can see that the entire group was constitantly together.
Oh ya the Insight MRDS is marketed as an 3.5 but as you can see from the pic below that in bright conditions and set to the auto adjust setting it is more like an 4 MOA red dot instead.

Satain that looks hot .. and that RDS looks pretty fine on it too.. I have my Strike Fire mounted on mine but I have to take it off for long range since I ordered the wrong mount for it.

I've wondered since I got the LARs if it is better not to couple them together. I want to work up to 3 gun and wonder if I'll just fumble the mags when I switch them around. Your pull mod on the mag looks good.

Here's a couple of pics of my new SU-16F Still need a flash hider and have a couple of mag couplers on the way. Now it's time to sight everything in. Going to be doing some other modifications soon. Will post up more pics when done.

Free floating for the win!!

I like how/where you mounted the scope....:yingyang:...the back-end of the scope is actually lined-up so that it would theoretically not "jut-out" if the rifle (sans pistol-grip) was folded !...:)

Not that it looks like you're planning on folding yours  , but it reassures me that I did not place my scope too far forward....;)

Those forends are pretty solid mounted on the rail?
How much height does it add? Worried it may add to much height to have scope properly sighted.

Yea, the only thing being added to my rifle is a scope though.
I do need one of those AR stock adapters. Hard to justify the price currently, but the factory stock is a little awkward at times.

P@rick...what forend is that, and do you have closeup pics of how it attaches?
Btw thats one of the nicest SU16's I've seen:ar15:
It's basically a rail on top of a rail so it's attachment is quite solid. I will get you the link to the quad rail when I get back home. I did have to do a tad bit of filing to it but was super easy. When I'm done with the rifle, it'll have a solid rail from right above where the AR stock adapter is to the front of the gas block. I just need to figure out the back end of it.

I'll get a close up of how the rail attaches.

You know what they say about great minds hey P@trick;)
Sorry about not making it up to the pumpkin shoot I had some family issue's.
I have 1 more "Ah Ha" moment this weekend on the way home. I just hope you guy's like it. This moment will make all you SU16 nutter's flip your lid.
:stirthepot2:
Trust me it takes this gun into the 3 gun competion world. Thatz your only hint. Hopefull I will get some time this weekend to make it. No PM'ing busting my chops about it either please :p
