The SL8 Mods, Info and FAQ Thread

So once i get the parts, how hard is it to put the entire thing together? Will it require a special tool?

Im looking to install the folding stock, pistol grip and possibly the optic handle

Bolt on... a short afternoon if you've never done one before. The hex tool that comes with SL8 is all you really need.

full conversion... a day or two if you have all the required parts and tools in place.

The length of the folding stock is over 2.5" too long. You'll need very long arms to have a comfortable length of pull. It's also made of cheap plastic, and the fit and finish is poor.
Stock block is the way to go.

It's referred to as a Tom bostic conversion, or chopstic kid. Done by two individuals in the USA, they cut the sl8 reciever, add a brace, then attach the rear section of a G36. Then plastic weld or putty the gap. Followed by paint.
I don't know anyone in Canada that does this for customers. But some have done their own.
