I thought I had an issue with my bush carbine (Weatherby) and went looking for a replacement. I'll be damned if I could find one. All of them out there don't have sights, or are similar to the scout model with that sloppy bolt, and enormous magazine. Mine has the Williams firesights and I mounted a 6x scope on it.

I have two savages and the ones I picked up for a bush rifle were sweet and felt lighter than mine. If they had sights, I would be inclined to trade mine for the Savage.

We are looking to do a custom run of Savage rifles in 308 with 18.5" barrels.

Which is of more interest:

Stevens 200 w/"Tenifer" finish ~$399
Savage 11FCNS with detach mag and accutrigger w/"Tenifer" finish ~$599

These will be completely factory guns.

Any other suggestions for options are welcome

I just noticed on the Savage website...it's called the Hog Hunter 11/111 in 223, 308 and 338. Kinda cool actually! Gotta get me one of those!!

Dam... that hog hunter in 338win is almost what I've been looking for. I've really been hoping that Ruger would offer the Alaskan in 338win.

Like this, but -

18.5" bbl
Short stock (maybe stock spacers like youth models come with)
9.3x62 cal
5 rd fixd mag (even if it sticks out), or 5 rd detatchable mags

9.3x62...that would sell well.

Have you guys considered the possibility that all this discussion about barrel length, sight options, and weird chamberings does nothing to encourage CanAm about the sales potential of the proposed Tenifer-finished Savage 11FCNS or Stevens 200 in .308 with an 18.5" barrel?

An option is something that can be added, like a threaded muzzle, an extra magazine, or a ching sling stud. Savage is not going to be able to make a Tenifer-treated customized-for-each-person rifle at a unit cost of ~$399 - ~$599.

First-off, 9.3x62 might not sell well; but i bet .35 Whellen or .338-06 would sell pretty darn well.

Next, 18.5" barrels? Why? I can cut-down any rifle to 18.5". If we're getting a special run, it needs to be less than 18"
