Another 9.3X62 bear, now with recovered bullet picture.

Hi Bob,

Somehow missed replying to your post earlier. My apologies.

Thanks for the kind words, and congratulations to to you and your Sweetheart on 54 years of marriage! You are certainly right about our gals being the second best thing that ever happened in our lives!

I have read your blog a few times over the past year or so, and have found it to be quite informative. Especially interesting now that you are featuring the 9.3X62. :)

The canoe is rated to carry 4800 pounds, and I have had that much freight, and more, in it several times. They are fabulous in rough water also. Here's a picture of myself running Three Mile Rapids on Stewart River, 35 years ago.

I actually had black hair back then! :D

Great photo Ted!! Thanks for sharing. ;)Looks like possibly one from the 'pre-metric era' and could well have been a cover photo for either the Outdoor Life or Field and Stream magazine.

Thats a pretty rugged canoe Ted, any idea what it weighs ?
My guess would be over 500 lbs.
I'll bet you don't see many of those used for sale in your neck of the woods.

Thanks for posting the awesome pics !

The canoe in the rapids is my old Faber, and weighed around 400 pounds dry. They were the lightest of all the freighters, yet tough as nails. Two men could paddle that one easily. The new ones made today are considerably heavier, and my 22 ft Teslin we took on the hunt this fall is, too.

We see the odd used one for sale. They are gone in heartbeat if in good condition, and they are not cheap. A new 22 footer sells for around $8000 without motor or trailer.

You looking for one?

And I thought my 5 week vacation was a long one!

:)I believe he's been down here on the island for the better part of 3 months +. He came to my place and did some reloading prior to the coffee meeting. It was good to see him again. I'm still dazzled by that picture, ;)from a few years back, of him running rapids in a canoe loaded with Moose. It's the kinda' picture one would expect to see on the front cover of Field & Stream or Outdoor Life. Quite the guy:).

Did John take a pic of you next to his moose head dealie? If not someone might question if he really met you!:D

:redface:No, sorry. We got busy cranking out some reloads, time was a little tight and I forgot to take the camera to the coffee meet. However, here's a pic from the first visit.
