Are there sub-sonic 5.56 loads for pistol gas systems?
And hence the reason I will never buy anything from RA, he doesn't know what he is talking about. Barrel length has sweet FA to do with it. The important factor is the length of the gas system. Subsonics require a short pistol length has system to work properly. You could run subsonics through a 20" barrel Reliably as long as the gas system was pistol length.

I think you might want to check your facts on the subsonic round being designed for supressor use only. I don't believe that to be the case.
If it was Alex Robinson doing the tests it would be on his own rifles. He has nothing to gain from testing AR's.
The Noveske 300 AAC BLACKOUT is designed to run optimally firing both subsonic suppressed and supersonic unsuppressed, while keeping supersonic suppressed reliable. It may not reliably cycle the action under adverse conditions with subsonic ammunition unless a silencer is attached. We recommend supersonic ammunition for Military, Law Enforcement, and Self Defense use without a silencer.
So, you're going to pay that much money for a rifle only to shoot s**tty corrosive ammo through it? Why? It's like buying a thoroughbred race horse and feeding it field grass.
There's no way I would buy a 7.62x39 rifle and not shoot surplus out of it.
If you read my above post with my chrony results of the "s**tty corrosive ammo" you post about, you will see that for surplus Czech ammo, it was quite consistent.
Corrosive ammo is a non issue if you clean your rifle properly after your range session. It literally takes me less than 10 minutes to properly clean my VZ.
I never said it was designed for suppressor use only, but I believe that's what it was optimize for. Am I wrong?
Like I said, it should work suppressed or unsuppressed. This is on Noveske's website for one of their .300 blackout rifles:
So maybe I am mistaken, and Noveske optimized their rifles for this. Not AAC and their ammo. If this is the case, then I stand corrected!

Worst come to worst, just spray down all the parts contacted by the gunpowder with windex. The ammonia neutralizes the salts, so corrosion shouldn't happen.
This is for the lazy folks![]()

What this means is that Noveski used a minimal sized gas port to control bolt carrier velocity when using supersonic ammo but that would also work with subsonics when the gun was reasonably clean. Get the rifle overly dirty and subsonics may not cycle 100%. This is a sacrifice made to avoid the need for an adjustable gas block.
If the gas port is opened up a wee bit the rifle will run fine subsonic and supersonic. The only downside being a bit of extra bolt velocity. Considering that many AR's are wildly overgassed and have been for years if not decades I don't really see the problem. If it really bugs you, just use a slightly heavier buffer for supersonics.
I have my Whisper AR's set so they will cycle both subsonics and supersonics without the need to adjustable gas block and I haven't had any cycling problems.
I like! Nice, simple and clean, definitely a ###y gun!
With the "Zombie" craze in full swing with Hornady's Zombie Ammo, and Eotech releasing a zombie themed model, when do you think we're going to see some kind of neon green/yellow accesssories released from Magpul? lol
