New Ontario licences

so bought my 2012 fishing licence the other day to recieve not the usual sticker that goes on the back of my outdoor card, but a piece of paper that has to be carried with my licence, which if i lose or damage, costs me $10 to replace. Apparently all the licences will be given out this way from now on. Pretty pointless IMO. so now when i go up moose hunting, i have to carry 5 different licences on me (moose, bear, small game, fishing, and wolf/coyote), as well as my outdoor card. This means if i happen to lose my card wallet, it will cost me $50 plus tax, plus the fee for a temporary since i am 27 hours away from home. not trying to sound cheap or anything but come on.
 
Still waiting for mine in the mail. So instead of a sticker they are giving out individual paper for each license now? That is the stupidest thing I've heard. MNR can probably pay for more boots on the ground if they didn't spend all their time discussing ways to "improve" our current licenses.
 
That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard, ok, maybe not; but close.

So now we have to carry a piece of paper fishing? I can't wait to present a mass of paper marche to the the CO, because I decided to have a unplanned swim.

Photocopy the paper and shove copies of it where it would be handy to get access to, if you happen to lose the one your carrying.

Are you sure the clerk didn't just screw up and give you the temp outdoor cards renewal form instead of just a sticker?

The only other scenario that I can see is the MNR is trying to get everyone to buy a 3 year fishing/small game license when they renew their outdoors card, that way it can be printed on the card and no additional paper work is needed.
 
Has anyone heard any truth to the rumor that smaller bait shops and hunting stores are no longer allowed to sell licenses? Friend of mine said he was turned away at the local shop and will have to go to one of the "Service Ontario" buildings.

As a side note/rant, the local MNR and drivers licensing bureaus were VERY quick and efficient. When they merged and became "Service Ontario" I've had nothing but slow service, always having to wait in line for people doing their friggin health card renewals, etc. Thank god I have one of the old red/white ones.

I bought my new card and tags in December at the beginning of the month. It still hasnt show up yet.
 
not sure about over the phone or online, but i purchased mine at my local baitshop. the fishing licence that is. i even asked the lady what was up with this. told me that's how they all will be from now on. even a fancy new machine that spits out the licence. maybe this is why some bait shops are ceasing to sell licences because they have to install this machine.
 
I agree, these new licenses are a joke. I was not impressed when I found out. Lets get a letter writing campaign going and get this stupid system back to the old system that actually worked. Who's with me?

Must be pretty bad living in a province that requires a card from the Gov to go outdoors :rolleyes:
